New Gay "cure" - Stroke A Horse

Just when I thought the world was full up with crazy, this comes along:

http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/p...s-getting-them-stroke-horses201212

"Pastor 'cures' gay teens by getting them to stroke horses

An American church is promising gay men they will be cured of their homosexuality if they stroke horses.

The Cowboy Church of Virginia, led by chief pastor Raymond Bell, believes homosexuality and other ‘addictions’ can be cured by Equine Assisted Psychotherapy."

Yeh, right. What I find most offensive is the Pastor's comment:

"‘Homosexuality is actually a type of addiction. It is not “curable” as a disease because it is a “choice driven” by the person.’

It was never 'a choice" by me and I am always astonished that any straight person can claim to know what it is to be gay.

So - how does he know?

I'm not sure that I thank you for that, but you did warn me. They made a movie - a documentary - about it, after the event:

It was highly praised at Sundance.

Best line yet!

I'm passingly familiar with the Cowboy Church, and on the scale of "Weird Churches in the South" they hardly rate a mention... but then the Snake Handlers (yes, they really do exist) have set the weird Southern church bar pretty high.

There are three branches of Church Of God. Snake handlers are one branch. I belong to another. Writhing and lurching on the church floor is the other. Yes, they do exist.

This pastor really needs to stop horsing around.
After all, what is a bunch of horseplay going to do to help cure homosexuality?
Perhaps all the girls in his congregation are horse-faced?

HAHA! I remember hearing about that. Surely this guy deserves the full biopic treatment. If only a good director could take the reins, this story could be manestream. Didn't he work for Boeing? This thread could be moved to CivAv.

I preferred the Holiday Special- A Christmas Corral.

I wonder what kind of school he went to? I wonder how many of these goofy pasters actually went to a real college/university and have a real degree in divinity, or the like? I have a feeling that many of them have online junk. Kind of like me being an ordaned clergy member in the church of spritial humanism, which I did so I could marry some friends of mine.

I once saw a film that had a woman jacking off a horse. It was pretty gross. I wouldn't call it gay; I'd call it wierd.

I don't know, my g.f. has her own horse. Strokes it a lot, esp. now that it has laminitis, does that make her a lesbian ? Could have fooled me, considering the several hundreds of times I've slept with her.

When I saw the thead title, I really did hold out some hope that this remedy would be something along the lines of a couple of guys drowning in a coupla buckets of horse semen. But alas, my twisted juvenile sense of humour remains unsatisfied, (much like the horses in this story)

Seriously though, this is one of the reasons I love the USA. It is big enough and diverse enough that every crackpot can get a following of believers.

You should have seen the rest of the film. When I was in high school my buddies and I saw a guy selling dirty movie at a flea market, in Villa Ridge, Missouri. One of them was called "freaks of nature" we put together and bought it. I had to buy it because I was the only one of the group who was 18 at that time. We took it back to my buddy's house and watched it.... It was gross!
