What's really creepy about this is that last week, I lost a good friend and former roommate to suicide. At the beginning of each year, he would predict which famous person would die in that year. Sounds morbid I know.
For the past 6 years, he had predicted Conrad Bains passing and was wrong luckily.
The only remaining member from the TV show Different Strokes is Todd Bridges (Willis)
His daughter in the TV show Dana Plato died in 1999 of a drug overdose and Gary Coleman (Arnold) died a few years ago falling down the stairs. I voted for him in the California recall election of 2003 when he ran for governor.

Prior to Different Strokes; Conrad Bain also played Dr. Arthur Harmon (Maude's next-door neighbor) in the 70s sitcom, Maude that ran from 1972-1978. That's where I remember him from.
Guess on my part, but look for the Antenna TV station to do a Maude/Different Strokes marathon as a tribute to Conrad Bain in the forseable future. They did a similar The Monkees marathon when Davey Jones did last year.

What's crazy is that 20 years ago it seemed like Todd Bridges would be the first to die with all his troubles with drug addiction and the law. Yet he's outlived them all.

OK.
Totally creepy.
I had been living with no TV for a couple years; then found an old, CRT-style set near the recycle bins in my building (with an it's-free-and-it-works note stuck to it). So I've spent the past couple weeks soaking up good olde tyme TV fare, such as reruns on those "MeTV" and "AntennaTV" networks. I'd never seen Maude before and I enjoyed seeing Conrad Bain's work on that series, as it proves he had a good range as an actor. On Diff'rent Strokes his character was a likeable fellow, on Maude his character was an ass, and he made both roles believable. I became more curious about the guy and so logged on to Wikipedia just the other night, was surprised to learn he'd been born in 1923; I thought he was younger than that (read: thought, boy he sure is olllllllld).
Did I kill Conrad Bain?
Some weeks ago I accepted a bet to make a list, off the top of my head, of 100 celebrities who'd died in my lifetime; the first one I named, for some untraceable reason, was Jack Klugman (then immediately questionned myself on whether Klugman had yet died or not). Thirty-six hours later...

Quoting L-188 (Reply 2): Is Todd Bridges still doing time?
I didn't know he did time.
Quoting L-188 (Reply 2): If so moght as well say the entire cast has passed
He has appeared in a few shows in recent years as well as Celebrity Death Match where he kicked Vanilla Ice's arse. I picked of a copy of the movie San Franpsycho where Todd Bridges plays the role of a detective. The movie is awful.

Todd Bridges appears a lot on World's Dumbest on TruTV. He and Tonya Harding and others always are in the scene making comments as stupid people do what they do on film.

Charlotte Rae is still around, but I think we all associate her more with "Facts of Life"

I don't think Bridges ever did time. He was acquitted of 2nd degree murder when testimony exonerated him and then not charged when he actually did stab someone, because he was acting in self defense when a guy attacked him with a sword. He did have a bad crack problem in the late 80's, but has turned it around, by all acounts.

If you want a cheap laugh, go check out the movie San Franpsycho.
It's so bad, it's good.

Don't F--K with Todd Bridges!

I remember him making the local news in the late 80s early 1990s. I'm glad he turned it around, even if it means starring in bad movies.
Todd Bridges divorced last year.
I know a lady friend that is having a hard time finding a husband and I told her that Todd Bridges is now single.
She's hated me every since.
