I've been here over 3 years, and I am wondering what opinion you have formed about me and my contributions to Airliners .net.

Have I humored you, or ticked you off in the Non-AV forum? Are my opinion best kept to myself?

Have I contributed insight into technical issues in the Tech-Ops forum? Do you consider me knowledgeable?

Would I be missed if I left?

I welcome any criticism.... good or bad.

Well Jet...lets see. If I remember correctly we've had our arguements (maybe I'm thinking of someone else though). Definately going to trust just about anything you say as far as aviation goes, hell, if those furloughs haven't stopped you, then you must really be into it.  Big thumbs up

One thing I remember reading is popping into my mind, something about soaking a mattress down to the bedsprings...hahah. Oh, and have a damn nice ability to choose good cars.

Right On !!!  Big thumbs up

I don't remeber any arguments with you..... I'm sure we've not agreed a few times. But things never got heated.....

I'm quite fond of your contributions, and I've also watched you mature over the time I've been here.

Furloughs suck !!!!!  Pissed And as Forest Gump said "That's all I have to say about that"

In the past 3 years I have been at 3 airlines. But I'm young and It's hard to build up seniority... especially getting a new employer during my furloughs. You have to start building seniority all over again. Being the youngest in the class (seniority in each class goes by birthdate) Im usually the last on the list.

All I can say is... It is nice to see you still here. We had that conversation in chat a long time ago about those guys you knew who did not make it in the DC-8 in MIA. Still chilling. As far as I am concerned, being a member since 1999 has a special cache with me. So your "in" with me.(since I too am a member since "99).

I never knew you were married. You don't seem the type.

And I still don't like Rockports. You don't fly with that crap on your feet do you?

Aloha, ClipperHawaii

BTW, Who cares what people think about you on here? I sure as hell don't.

Hey Clipper...

Yes... my boy's Glenn Millington, Pat Thompson, and Steve Petrosky lost their lives in that accident. I remeber the conversation.

Speaking of that accident I've been very sad the last few days..... I met a guy a few months ago I became friends with him he never knew I was a pilot until he stepped into my office and saw a pic of a DC8 on my wall. He said his uncle used to fly for the airlines. He told me his uncle used to fly for Trans Con. Thinking I had to know who he was as Trans-Con became Express.Net. I asked his name and he told me Rick Smith. A chill went up my spine like I had never felt. Rick was a good friend of mine who died in that mid Air colision of a his Lear and an experimental plane 2 years ago in West palm beach. Small world.

It made me think of people I knew personally who died in aviation, 3 friends in the Fine Air crash, Rick Smith in the mid-air. And thats only in the last 6 years. There will be more unfotunately.

Yeah I fly with a nice set of shiny black Rockports..... Very comfortable.  Big thumbs up

I don't care what people think I was just interested in hearing it.

LMAO. I agree. I'm married....since 94. Currently divorcing. Its not a bad thing. My choice, but I actually liked being married (Oh what would the boys think? ), and I too hope its the right chick next time.

You're alright in my book JET. Despite the semi-gloss apearance of your thread, its all good. Hope you can stick out the current down swing and hang around for another 3 plus years.

Hepkat.... it's your decision as a moderator to decide what you want to see posted here and what you would not as I did when I was a moderator.

However it seems that the point of moderating isn't to keep the posts that you are in agreement with. If someone has an opinion and would like to air it here then so be it weather in good taste or not. I'll be sure to post middle of the road comments in the future so as not to disturb the general order (sarchasm) of things here.

It's not your job to decide what comments are necessaryor unecessary. If the rules are followed the post should stay no matter how revolting or disagreeable to you it is.

As far your decisions weather to keep or delete a post are governed only by the below rules.

Non-aviation related posts only!

Aviation related? Use the other forums

No adverts of any kind. This includes web pages.

No hostile language or criticizing of others.

Do not post copyright protected material

Use relevant and describing topics.

Check if your post already been discussed.

Check your spelling!

But you have your own agenda and we as forum users are powerless to keep you from enforcing your views by deleting our posts.

Thanks for the honesty.

No way am I falling for that JetPilot. Start by taking responsibility for the contents of your posts rather than screaming moderator abuse.

Furthermore, I did not say your comments were necessary or unnecessary, I said it was the harshness of your comments that are unnecessary. There are many ways to express your opinion on A.Net without flamebating and using harsh language.

it's your decision as a moderator to decide what you want to see posted here and what you would not as I did when I was a moderator.

Whether I agree with an opinion or not is completely irrelevant. However, I have never done, nor will I do as you admitted to doing.

But you have your own agenda and we as forum users are powerless to keep you from enforcing your views by deleting our posts.

Whatever agenda I may or may not have takes a back seat while moderating.

By the way, your forgot another forum rule:
Non-Aviation does not imply that everything goes. Same behavioral rules apply in here as on the other forums.
Use extreme caution with political/religious topics. Blatant flamebaits = user removed without warning. This has to stop.

I take 1000% responsibility for whatever I post.

I don't make remarks as bait for others to flame. I say what's on my mind. If it happens to be offensive to others..... well that's life. Airliners.net forums are a microcosm of the real world not a seperate entity. By deletion of posts you are creating a middle of the road environment for politicly correct postings. I'm not middle of the road.

Anyway this is not really an issue because I have had only a few posts removed during my 3 plus year tenure. I wouldn't consider my few removed posts a "biggie".

"It's your decision as a moderator to decide what you want to see posted here and what you would not as I did when I was a moderator.

It was my intention to imply "according to the rules as the forum". It is a moderators job to interpret these rules and apply them as he see's fit.

I am going to be studying aviation at the University of NOrth Dakota with the intent on becoming an airline pilot, so your posts in the tech-ops forum will be put to good use I hope. Keep'em coming.

JePilot, THIS is precisely the problem! You have to realize this is a private website subject to the rules of the owner. Flamebait/harsh language is not appreciated.

Anyway, if you wish to continue this conversation, please send me an email.

What the problem should be seen as, is that many people will take one persons views to be offensive simply because they do not like or agree with it. In discussions and debates, opinions are expressed, and for the debates and discussions to be successful, there will have the be disagreeing view points, or even views that some may find acceptable, and others find offensive. You have already stated Hepkat that Flamebait cannot really be defined, especially on this site. With so much personal interpolation, its no wonder the posters have no clue on what is and isn't acceptable anymore.

Yup, and he said he was speaking whats on his mind. Now i'm not an expert on flame (AFAIK its an internet term only..), but I'm pretty sure that flamebait is deliberate intent to provoke a reaction in another member (in a bad way).

Speaking your mind is not flamebait, IMO but I guess the harsh language could be avoided.

ANYWAY, back to subject (and to be honest, I think we should stop, JETPILOT asked what everyones opinions of him were, but (out of all people) hepkat has changed this discussion into another power struggle, and another argument about moderation, which is not on). JETPILOT, you are a pretty cool guy, although sometimes it seems you force your opinion on others, but netherless(huh? I know that ain't spelt right!!!) have put forward good points of view into debates, and can be quite humorous at times  Big grin.

Excuse me EGGD, but JetPilot asked what we thought of him and I gave my honest opinion. All I said was that besides the harsh language I had no problems with him whatsoever. What power struggle are you talking about? And why would I need to struggle with him for power anyway?

Seems like you badly want to stir something up here.

You got me to thinking who I have known that have died in aviation also, and yes there are a few. Aviation can be very unforgiving. When I fly, in command or as a pax, I always ask myself, "Is this my last flight?" My next thought is how wonderful aviation is. Keep those thoughts in balance and you will be an old semi-bold pilot!

What is your total time now? And which carriers have you flown with I forgot?

Rockports, tsk tsk!

Blue side up Jet,
ClippH

Oh you can honor those to whom have flown east, by being the most dedicated pilot--read that as safe.

The problem, one I am already discussing with Johan, is that there is no set standard. It's basically up to the moderator what stays and what goes. That is not how good moderation works.

According to forum moderator Hepkat, there is a set standard, and it is being followed. Strange. Several people, us included see it differently though. Good luck in your current project on the moderation. Many before you have tried and failed. I wish you the luck. You will need it.
