I have the Muchmusic interview with Alex Lifeson and that lady VJ backstage in Halifax on the Hold Your Fire Tour.
That was the first tour I saw them live. I saw them at the Fabulous Forum near LAX with Tommy Shaw (Styx) as the opening act.

I was there... still have the ticket stub tucked away in my Hold Your Fire LP. Chalk Circle was the opening act.

Gosh, I totally forgot about that band.

Los Freakin' Angeles isn't on their map? Wow. That really does suck. I know they'll play a lot of new crap, but I'd still see them anyway.

I had too until I saw them last year at the annual Tour Tech party held here every year. They sounded great.

Saga is playing this year.

NICE!
My old roommate is a die-hard fan of theirs. I never seen them in concert but I did meet two of the members 23 years ago. In 1990 near Los Angeles, there was a music & tennis fundraiser where Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, two members of Saga (forgot which 2), Phil Ehardt, Steve Walsh (Kansas), Kevin Cronin (REO Speedwagon), two members of Survivor (forgot which 2) and Weird Al Yankovic played against a bunch of tennis stars of that time. It was a fundraiser for Leukemia.
The Saga albums I own are; Images at Twilight, Silent Knight and Worlds Apart (US and Canadian pressings).

I don't have Silent Knight but I do have the other 2 on CD. I recommend their first album and Heads or Tales as well. Looks like I'm going to miss them because of work... but I ain't missing Rush!

I wish I could go see them. Unfortunately they only play 2 gigs in Germany which sucks big time! I mean come on, we're a nation of more than 80million and only 2 (two!) concerts??? Both venues about 4-5 hours away by either car or train and the cheapest tickets start at 90 bucks, Euro that is!

I'd love to see these great musicians live but it is way too much hassle and too big of a blow to my limited budget at the moment.

Just spend 15€ on Neil's Ghost Rider though and I must say an investment well worth the cash! Took me 4 days to read it front to back.

Make a road-trip out of it. You have plenty of time to save up. The tickets in the US and Canada are the same price as in Germany, if not more. My friends that's seen Rush on the last two tours have been spending $300 for their tickets and they aren't even good seats.

I won a pair of TIX from WGFX, 104.5 FM on Friday for the 5/1 date here in Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena! I don't know where they are yet, as the station doesn't have them yet (not on sale at the time). But I'm betting where ever the seats are in the "Tire Barn" they are not cheap. Wife nor myself are huge fans but my brother is. He's considering traveling here. If not, I guess I'll sell them and make a few $$.

WOW, you're lucky!
These expensive seat prices for Rush is a new thing. The last tour I saw them on was Snakes & Arrows tour 2007.
Scalpers were selling their tickets at a loss in the parking lots before the show. In fact, the last show I saw them at was at Reno Convention Center in Reno, NV. I bought my ticket at the box office just 1 hour before the show and I got 2nd. row at face value - $98.
That was a steel because I was sitting next to people that paid over $600 for their ticket.

Your brother will forever thank you if you gave him a ticket.
As far as selling your ticket, you can expect to get at least $200 even if they're average seats.
Rush fans have grown older and richer and can afford the high ticket prices. Plus Alex Lifeson still has some legal fees to pay after beating up a police officer in Florida.

Good to see you back in the forums GuitrThree.
For awhile I was jealous and thinking you had a life.

Long story, but he lives in VA and Rush is playing VA Beach the next day. Still a drive for him to go there but by us not knowing where the seats are he probably will pay for the best seats he can. He's that ate up with them.....

If it wasn't back to back dates he'd be here for sure.

Never really left. Election left me totally bummed out and don't want to argue anymore. Not going to go off topic really far here, but the "Hillary is Back" thread is just an example. 4 Americans dead, and she claims "who cares" that the WH AND herself lied, and there are plenty of backers here of that lie. I'm just as Fed up with the "my" side as they are a bunch of bumbling idiots who have no map and let the media control the tone. So from now on I'm pretty much sticking to threads like this, cars, and the Photo Forum. I even started posting some of my work:

Are you thinking like a normal person?
Rush fans can be obsessive. I've known a few that have followed their tour bus and trucks cross-country. The Ontario Canada license plates are easy to locate. Some were so geeked to stop at a Denny's and strike up a conversation with the truck drivers of their rig just to have a conversation with someone working on the Rush tour. Yes their fans can be that obsessive. I thought I was a die-hard fan until Al Gore invented the Internet. Now I'm exposed to people that are far more off the deep-end than I was when it came to being a Rush fan. Some of it is downright scary. I knew a guy that cancelled his honeymoon because Rush had released a new album the week they were supposed to go out of town. So driving from Virginia Beach to Nashville isn't a big inconvenience to Rush fans if their is a free ticket involved. I doubt radio stations give away crap seats. Heck, your brother just might follow their truck motorcade after the concert. They we he would be on the same sleep schedule as the roadies.
I used to be the biggest Rush fan at Airliners.net but I've passed that torch over to vikkyvik.

I fully agree with you on the other topic.

Congrats on getting photos in the database but are there any 'interesting' aircraft that visit Nashville?
The white fuselage, painted tail twinjets can't be that exciting.

Haha! It's not all peaches & cream. I've been chased by a naked taxi driver once.

I know a lot of Rush fans that save up thousands and thousands of dollar$ so when the band goes on tour, they have money for multiple tickets, airfare, rental cars and hotels to go follow them on tour. Every Rush concert is the same. The show in Toronto is the same show that's in Minneapolis, Detroit, Los Angeles, London, Amsterdam and all other cities they play.

About 7 years ago, I went to one of those Rush gatherings 'party' at a guys house out in Concord, Ca (about 30 miles east of San Francisco). The guy hosting the party was the webmaster of a Rush fan site. It was a new thing for me. I had been a Rush fan for many years and I thought it would be cool to meet other fans in the area. Well there were people that flew in from all over the US and Canada to go to this guys house party. One couple flew in all the way from Saint John, Newfoundland - to go to this guy's house party and talk about Rush.
I had asked some of them if they had been to San Francisco before and what other places they were going to visit while in the Bay Area. None of them had any interest in seeing anything in the SFO area. Just hanging out at this guy's house to talk about Rush was it.
One lady who flew in from New Hampshire asked where I lived, I told her I lived in San Francisco. She said; "WOW, you are so lucky to live so close".
Meaning I was so "lucky" to live so close to this guy's house who happens to run a Rush website.  Wow!
After a few hours of talking about Rush at this 'party', I was looking for the nearest door to get out and leave.
At that point I realized that a lot of my fellow Rush fans were freaks and totally obsessive about the band. It really freaked me out. It reminded me of an episode of Saturday Night Live when they had William Shatner appear at a Star Trek convention. There he had ridiculed all of his fans and basically told them all to get a life.
I think it would be awesome if Neil Peart could show up to one of these Rush gatherings and do the same to these obsessive fans.
...then again, that would hurt his book sales and they would stop going to their concerts.

I'm working on that. Sadly, no, not much since the China Airlines 747 freighter for Dell Computers left a few years ago. Hit and miss. Unfortunately I work all week during the day. If anything comes in off beat it seems to be then. Leaves the slower weekends. I got plenty of shots of Country Music stars but they tend to use the Center runway and it lends itself to lots of heat haze as it's pretty far away. The TN Air National Guard lost all of it's C-130's recently and they will be replaced by drones in the future. THEN I will have some interesting stuff, I bet!

Quoting Superfly (Reply 15):

You don't say. I'm related to one! Turns out the VA beach date is 5/5. He lives in SW VA so it's about 4.5 hours to VA Beach. He is coming down to see them in Nashville 5/1 then doing the VA Beach date 5/5. Wish me luck that I don't get indoctrinated to this thing called Rush. I'm not normal enough the way it is!

It's good to see new people uploading. Gives a nice counterpoint to all the complaining that typically goes on in the Photography forum.

Hey, why are you still online? Doesn't the nursing home have a curfew?

That said, I'm not the biggest fan of Clockwork Angels. But I found that the songs are much better live.

I do still like Vapor Trails and Snakes and Arrows, though.

Not a fan at all. However I do like the two instrumentals on Snakes & Arrows.
To me their last great album was Hold Your Fire. Since then has been a slow steady decline.
Test For Echo had some good parts to it but still nothing compared to their material in the 1970s & most of the 1980s.
