One of my police officer friends had mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, but since I could find zero corroborating information in the media, I choose not to post it. But, it appears that NBC (of all outlets) has reported that:

"...four handguns, and apparently only handguns that were taken into the school...also had an assault style, AR15 style rifle that he had taken to the school, that was in the car...but we've been told by several officials that he left that in the car..."

http://video.today.msnbc.msn.com/today/50208495#50208495

I've cut it up a bit, but the gist of the story is that while the asshole had an AR15 in the car, he did not bring it into the school.

It's curious that this hasn't been more widely reported and even NBC doesn't show it on their homepage. I came across it via a link on FB, which made me skeptical to begin with, but the link looked valid so I viewed it. Near as I can tell, it is an NBC clip.

I understand that when a tragedy occurs, information is sketchy and disjointed, but there has been plenty of time to make, at least this point, a hard bit of information.

Now, right after the attack reports were that all the kids were shot by an assault rifle. In fact, this is news report says:
All the victims at the school were shot with a rifle, at least some of them up close, and all were apparently shot more than once, Chief Medical Examiner Dr. H. Wayne Carver said.

So, what does this tell us?

Was the coroner mistaken?

Are the un-named officials in the NBC report mistaken?

Please, don't make this about gun control. I'm more concerned with the apparent inconsistencies about this story and, the apparent lack of media coverage of the "new" information.

What are we to make of this?

Very simple. We are supposed to believe that "assault-style" guns are bad, that if we get rid of them this sort of thing would not happen, and the facts were changed by the press to support this claim.

Meanwhile, shockingly, journalists do not want post lawn signs in front of their houses declaring them "gun free zones".

I'm sure I heard reported, that one child had no less than 11 gun shot wounds. OMG !

So I'm not sure how this would happen with a hand gun only ?

WIKI say 3 semis were found in the school with Lanza body in the school, along with a .223-caliber Bushmaster XM15-E2S rifle, a 10mm Glock handgun and a 9mm SIG Sauer P226 handgun,

And a high capacity 30 round magazine was recovered with the rifle.[18] Outside the school, an Izhmash Saiga-12 combat shotgun was found in the car Lanza had driven.

But wait there's more......

And at home, more guns. Lanza had access to three more firearms: a .45 Henry repeating rifle, a .30 Enfield rifle, and a .22 Marlin rifle.

I know Wiki is not always right, but it dose allow for constant "updating" . So maybe more light will be shed on the matter in time.

high capacity 30 round magazine

I'm sick of this non-sense. 30 rounds is a standard capacity magazine.

Don't shoot the messenger !

As I stated, I only quoted what Wiki has listed.

If its incorrect then correct Wiki and fix it. simple.

He would reload. It is quite possible that he had an extended magazine for the Glock, just like Cho at Virginia Tech. Do they make an extended magazine for the Glock 20? I've no clue, I don't go in for that stuff.

Yes, let's hope so.

It was reported the very first day. But you are right. I have not heard it being reported afterwards.

I hadn't heard that at all. All I heard was the coroner being reported as saying that all the kids had been shot by a rifle. How does a veteran medical examiner make that kind of mistake?

I'm far from a conspiracy theorist, in fact, I routinely ridicule them  , but stuff is not adding up.

I understand that mistakes are made in the heat of the moment. I understand (I may not agree, but I understand) that the media may report unconfirmed information in order to "scoop" the competition, it's been 6 weeks since the attack. This should be a hard piece of information...but, it isn't. Why not?

I hadn't heard that at all.

I was watching the thing live on CBS. They reported first that the attacker had used a .223 rifle. An hour aftewards they said that police had found the rifle in the car and that the attacker had apparently used two hand guns only.

Again, magically, everybody is now talking about a "rifle".

Because......Just as Dreadnought pointed out......we are "supposed to believe"......just what the lame-stream media WANTS us to "believe"..........(whether it's true or not.) I'll put it a little more blunt; the so-called "media" lies, tells half truths, 1/4 truths, and probably a few 1/8 "truths"........anything they think they can get by with to support their agenda; and we ALL know what their "agenda" is, don't we ?

Remember good old Dan Rathernot ? ( "I'd Rather not tell you the truth.......I'd Rather feed you a line of "made up" crap, the better to advance my "agenda"; (so they ended up throwing HIM under the bus, and he's STILL crying about getting caught, years later !) Welcome to "journalism" in the U.S., 2013 !

Yet another 'press release,' this one saying that he did in fact take the assault rifle into the school with him. The 'long arm' found in the car was apparently a shotgun.

"Police released a news release on Tuesday, saying they provided details in news conferences but wanted to eliminate any confusion or misinformation.

"Police said they found a Bushmaster .223 caliber model XM15-E2S rifle with high capacity 30 round clips, a Glock 10-mm handgun and a Sig-Sauer P226 9mm handgun inside the school.

"Police identified Adam Lanza as the gunman who shot and killed 20 first graders and six staff members.

"Police also searched Lanza’s car, which was in parking lot, and found an Izhmash Canta-12 12-gauge shotgun."
