Well after 4 months of designing a custom engagement ring and having it made, it is finally finished. In the meantime I've been weighing my main diamond options and last night I finally decided on "the one". After a couple hours of negotiating on price with my jeweler (in person and via text) we agreed on a price. I went and finalized the payment about an hour ago and now just have to wait about a week for the stone to be placed on the band (being sent to the company that built/made the ring to do it).

Yes, I went over my budget....but man am I excited

Excellent! And congratulations!

And I am glad that you were able to actually purchase the ring and not stick it on a long term payment option. I never liked the idea of my future wife having to pay for her own ring, it just seemed "not right". (But I guess some people don't mind that and that is not my concern.)

Congratulations! The commitment of marriage ia big one, but well worth it for the resolute joy it can bring you.

Approaching my 30th anniversary, I can tell you, I never look back.

Here's to a lifetime of joy and contentment for you and your mate.

Well thank you! I bought an insurance policy on it today for the ring/diamond and a necklace I recently got her.

Oh I look back all the time! And I smile a very very big smile!
It was fun and terrifying and thrilling and heart-stopping and.... the best moment ever.

Very fun to look back on.... (and I am not really nitpicking you, I know exactly what you mean).

Your profile says you're a "Risk Analyst" and you're proposing?

I was raised Jewish and it is our superstition that we never congratulate on something that is not complete (like a pregnancy or an engagement) because to do so is to actually curse it. So I will simply wish you the best of luck and all of the happiness in the world.

you thought the ring was expensive? Just wait until the wedding bills (not bells) start ringing.

Good luck,
Hope she says yes.

You have spent a lot of time and money on this ring. Make sure you do the same for her.
