WDHN-TV reporter Josh Rultenberg told CNN Wednesday that the 65-year-old suspect had been building the bunker for several months and had enough food inside to stay for four months.

What is wrong with people. And if you are doing this at 65 years of age, what made you snap to finally do this. Or have you been lucky in the past and not caught.

Somehow I feel that the will to fight, the will to fight for one's own "rights" is deeply entrenched in American souls.

And somehow one does rarely trust community, or even the state. So it is all up to oneself. If in trouble, YOU fight. And then it depends on one's own definition what the "trouble" is, and so it goes. The "solution" is there, you just have to do it.

How do you think about this?

Pretty sure this a plot from Criminal Minds (Season 8 Episode 8). Scary how similar they are (to a point).

You have to be pretty messed up to have done this whatever age you are although I agree, 65 is a rather strange age to start doing this. I would be willing to bet he has a record somewhere for something, though.

Don't, for a second, think that this is a legitimate "fight for his rights". While child custody law remains entrenched in the dark ages here, the fact that he killed an innocent bus driver who was no threat to him completely invalidates any "moral high ground" he had.

He won't last 4 months. I'll be surprised if he makes it through the weekend. People like him don't fully realize how stupid their plans can be.

This isn't fighting for one's rights, this is 100% crazy and this man has now lost all freedoms that he was apparently fighting for in his head.

Whose moral high ground? There are situations where you simply do not care what others think. And I find the "I have to do what is right!" stance is quite more easily triggered in Americans than in other people.

If all people would be that sane, nobody would ever go to prison. In everyone's mind there is some room for egoism, blatant disregard for others and "I have to do this! NO WAY you're going to stop me!".

It appears that the child hostage is still in the bunker, at the dawn of the third day in the hostage situation. You can only imagine what that kid is going through, being down there with that nutjob...

Nothing's worse then flying the same registration twice, except flying it 4 times..

The guy beat a neighbors dog to death with a pipe and in his last incident before the bus driver murder/kidnap incident he fired two shots off at a car that accidentally turned in his driveway. He was to appear in court over that incident this week or next. The dudes a loon. I feel sorry for the kid and R.I.P. to the bus driver.

Just the kind of neighbour one would want. What a retard! Hope they fill him with led and throws him the pigs.

CNN is reporting that the kidnapper is dead and that the child is safe, apparently after shots were fired.

This guy was allowed to keep his weapons after that incident in the driveway ?

Surely the authorities should have taken then away from him, or cant they do that ?

IIRC he was due in court for that incident.

Maybe he would need to have been found guilty before the gun was taken.

There are three times a gun can be seized:

When the police have probable cause that the gun in question was involved in a crime, supported by a signed search warrant from a judge;

As a condition of probation after being found guilty of a misdemeanor, felony, or capital crime;

When the owner is a convicted felon (this is automatic and lasts 10 years absent any other sentence).

And don't call me Shirley

Check this s*** out.

This crazy was allowed to have all these guns in America, as nuts as people knew him to be.

An old (old enough to live under Jim Crow) black bus driver in Alabama, the most conservative of all states, tried in vain to prevent a white guy from stealing white children. He died for it.

I don't hear that much about how the bus driver was a hero. I only heard a little bit. I don't hear that much more about gun control. I don't hear about keeping guns out of mentally ill persons' hands.

I want to hear about that NRA. I want this blood to stop pouring.

Hi Ken....

Maybe, that's an understatement isn't it ?

Any hint of this guy doing that, and the cops should have been breathing down his back like know ones business and confiscated All his guns....But.....that's right, you don't have to registrar do you ?

When is sanity gone to prevail in all this....Bugger rights !

When dose the overall safety and well baing of citizens, begin to take precedent over personal liberty's and rights ?

Something gotta give don't you think and soon

Quoting Maverick623 (Reply 13):

Then that needs to change. Any hint of gun violence or aggression towards anyone, the cops need to take action. like confiscation of weapons until the issue is resolved later in court.

Ok Promise I wont.
