Hiho,

today I got across http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=IdDfF4hXfj4 , a short documentary epic about a man brave and bold enough to buy bread, and discovering its proper use (as a sponge).

Is your bread really that          ?

I've used bread as a sponge. It comes in real handy when you're sweating pipes and you just can't get the pipe to stay dry....but that sponge, er, bread is ridiculous.

And really, who the heck buys $90 worth of bread? What's the shelf life on that stuff?

Astonishing! Must be appalling to eat.

I laughed at the bit where the poor little girl is grizzling about having jam wiped off her arm with a slice of 'bread' and not enjoying it at all, but then about thirty seconds later I realised that she probably wasn't worried about the bread or the jam - I rather fancy she was more concerned about the guys hands being near her, seeing as this is a man who thinks absolutely nothing about dunking his bare hands in the toilet repeatedly!

Wow. 95% of our bread is way too dry to use it as a sponge...

Given that the bread is packaged airtight (and probably under carbon dioxide), the bread should just stay the same for months. I don't know what preservatives are used for that kind of bread, but cheese sometimes comes with natamycin, an antibiotic that is allowed as a food additive in the EU. It is effective against Aspergillus, the most common type of mold.

Well, there are worse things, like canned cheeseburger... *yuck*

LOL, that's the Paleo bread. Wasn't there a thread about the paleo diet recently?
