I want to ship a 4 pound item to Brinsmead Glen, Australia 4870 from San Antonio TX 78217. I checked UPS and was surprised the shipping was very expensive almost $90.00 US. Anyone have any ideas about a cheaper method or maybe I was doing it wrong? Need help!

Have you tried DHL or the good ol' US Postal Service?

Yeah...USPS is probably the best. And remember that Global Express Mail service is actually done by DHL!

If speed is the priority then Federal Express is the fastest followed by DHL, USPS is probably your cheapest option. One thing to remember don't put a high price on the goods as this will likely attract Australian duties of 5% and a GST(goods & service tax of 10%), which will need to be paid before the goods are sent to the receiver. Items under $250.00 will usually avoid these charges. The other important thing is to include a phone number.
Hope this helps.
