This is the week that the major networks anounce their new fall schedules. This is also the time that shows get the axe.

So what's being canceled?

Looks like FOX has canned The Cleveland Show

ABC has canned

Malibu Country
Happy Endings
Body Of Proof

Malibu Country, I don't get

Per wikipedia
Ratings [edit]

The series premiere received 9.13 million viewers, and a 2.3 in the coveted 18–49 rating share, up 1 million viewers from its lead in, the season premiere of Last Man Standing. The premiere scored ABC's highest numbers in the half hour in almost 5 years.[10] As of November 27, 2012, the first season episode order has been expanded from 13 to 18, with ABC also announcing that Malibu Country is the highest-rated freshman comedy on television in the 2012 fall season with an average of 8.7 million viewers per episode.[44]

Yet, ABC renewed The Neighbors Go figure.

I don't know what NBC, CBS, or CW are doing.

USA just announced that the shortened 13-episode summer season of Burn Notice will be this series' last. That's been a perennial favorite of mine.

Sometimes rather meh, but it had funny sides to it and its plot involving a gay couple and dealing with everyday life was a rather touching story.

The Cleveland Show has been subject to a lot of rumors about cancellation but as Wikipedia says, no new orders for episodes has been ordered. Any other hiatus than an inter seasonal spells doom. Collider.con says basically cancelled though nothing yet on TVHell.com as on now. As a fan of Family Guy I hope to see Cleveland return to Quahog.

I'm hoping he returns to Family Guy too - Family Guy has been kind of empty without him. I miss the bathtub falling from the house scenes. Hopefully a few characters will carry over to Family Guy also. It was funny in the Family Guy episodes Cleveland Jr was only seen 2-3 times and he looked totally different and skinny - all of a sudden in Cleveland show he becomes a nerdy lardball

It feels like the right time for this. I've watched from day one, and I didn't want to sit through three more rounds of Michael getting to the Big Bad Guy behind his Burn Notice, only to find that there was yet another Bigger Bad Guy behind that one. Hopefully they wrap that up, and spend a little time on the gang working on the case of the week.

One of my favorite shows ever, but the writing has suffered this season (and maybe even some the prior season as well). And they wrote themselves into a corner with the last scene, I don't see how they could have come back from that.

I'm not watching any of the other mentioned, I'm more of a SF/fantasy fan, and those series, especially the SF ones, get early deaths way too often, only due to US people not watching them, even when they make tons of money internationally, that's really annoying.

It's had a good run—I wondered how much longer it would last after his brother was killed. Apparently Fiona takes on a new boyfriend this season, leaving Michael scrambling to save what remains of his friends and family, if I'm getting what the season previews are showing correctly.

On one of the re-runs USA ran this morning, Michael gave Fiona a snowglobe as a friendship symbol at the end of one of the episodes. You can't make this stuff up.

I understand the symbolism of snowglobes here on A.net, however, in the show, Fiona had an extensive collection of them. During one of their ops, I think as part of an escape from one set of villans or another, her house was blown up, destroying the collection. Michael got her one as a way of apologizing for what he was putting her through.

Shows that should get or have gotten another season.

Southland
Vegas
Terra Nova

Studio 60 on the sunset strip (loved that show, excellently written)
Dirty Sexy Money

Caprica
Stand off
The unit

Tv shows that should be axed NOW!

Grimm
Glee
Bones
Two and a half men

Tv shows that never ever should of made it to the screen
Mike and Molly
Jersey Shore

I'll never understand why some shows get cancelled and other continue to waste air time.

Sci-Fi is particularly bad at it. They seem to cancel series' in their prime for no particular reason.
It is like the board is made up entirely of kindergarten kids, as soon as they get bored with something, they cancel it and move on.

I've made an effort not to get too much into any given series these days. I'm afraid that with the story arcs that are used in today's shows, a season end cliffhanger may never be resolved if the studio decides to can the show. This happens all too regularly and pisses me the hell off.

If series' were to revert back to the reset mode for each episode, I'd be more inclined to watch, as a show getting canned wouldn't leave an arc half finished.

I think American TV is too crowded with medical, police and fire dramas. It, for the most part, always has been. With the exception of NCIS I don't watch any other police drama, no fire shows, and the wife makes me occasionally watch Greys Anatomy with her. So, it doesn't come as a surprise that when they spin off several other PD dramas, they fail. Although, NCIS is a spinoff to JAG and it has done very, very well.

Yeah, I agree. I liked it as a kid...in high school...when it just started going downhill. To me, they left their roots and made it too celebrity-centric. When they started having celebrity guests in every episode, I feel like the humor was traded out for more celebrity visits. Just my opinion.

Mike & Molly is mindless entertainment that I enjoy after a crappy, long Monday. My apologies that I am not worthy of having a child.

Hope that trashy show Two Broke Girls goes, never seen anything so crass, it was aired for a month or so on a cable channel catering to India which our cable operator also provides here, but even the Indians dropped the show, normally they bring in new seasons every few months but they didn't for this and another one called New Girl which shows a first generation US-Indian girl a model, sleeping around, getting pregnant out of wedlock.

New Girl is a great show! FYI, the Indian girl is not the main character of the show, and she didn't get pregnant so far. Also, we're living in the 21st century

Maybe it did not gel with many Indians, they used to run a ticker underneath asking viewers to report anything they found offensive to a concerned authority, they didn't this for all foreign channels, besides I stopped seeing the show and that time she was pregnant, hated the dumb main character and the fact a good looking mddle aged millionaire fell for her a la Pretty Woman 1990 was stupid IMO.

It may be 21st century but some people outside of your world do not accept such things more so people of their countries being used showing this, hope no Indian pops in to negate this and pass off his still conservative society as a hotbed of everything hip.

USA just announced that the shortened 13-episode summer season of Burn Notice will be this series' last. That's been a perennial favorite of mine.

Damn ! Gabrielle Anwar is so hot !!

Quoting moose135 (Reply 17):
It feels like the right time for this. I've watched from day one, and I didn't want to sit through three more rounds of Michael getting to the Big Bad Guy behind his Burn Notice, only to find that there was yet another Bigger Bad Guy behind that one. Hopefully they wrap that up, and spend a little time on the gang working on the case of the week.

It had become somewhat repetitive the last two seasons, anyway.

I agree! If ABC had cancelled 'The Neighbors', I would have assumed that they were simply teasing me with cool shows, only to cancel them JUST to disappoint me. In which case, I would have never watched ABC again (except Jeopardy).

Nope... Disagree. My wife and I LOVE that show. Yes, it is a bit vulgar, but it's actually funny and it's not too nauseating, at least not for my taste anyway.

If you want to talk vulgar tho, yeah, try Jersey Shore.

I agree about that and Mike & Molly; two shows that should never have made it to the TV screen.

It is a shame about Futurama getting the axe. I kinda wish they would have had some reference to the Pittsburgh. They've referenced Milwaukee and Atlanta to name a few places.

I love that show. It´s probably one of the best out there. It´s refreshing and funny, and it shows a lot about American society in a pretty funny way.

I understand how it may be crass for some people who feel women can´t do with their sexuality what they wish, and actually have a right to be treated equally, but thankfully in the 21st. century a lot of people watch it and find it amusing. I hope they renew it for many seasons.

Wait, there is sex in it? I might try watching it then. I can never watch more than 15 seconds of it before the canned laugh track and the pre-packaged one-liners get the best out of me.

Those who write and produce "Two Broke Girls" aren't trying to appeal to the majority of the world, and apparently they DO appeal to more than enough of the people who matter (U.S. viewers) from a "keep it on the air" perspective.

I don't care about it being trashy or crass (nor do I really think it is), it's just not my kind of humor. I've watched it several times, laughed a few, but really just don't find it all that enjoyable. I'm not upset that it's still on the air, but I wouldn't miss it for a second if it left.

My thoughts exactly....seems like the one-liners are so forced. It is actually painful to watch sometimes.

Quoting Tankereng (Reply 36):
Another summer show that was canceled was The Great Escape on TNT last October. Loved it, looks like it is being replaced with The Hero hosted by The Rock.

Hated that show. Of the couple of episodes I saw it looked like the "escape" was so lame. Ohhhh, dunk your head under the water to find a key, kick the bar off a window, if the guards "see" you, go back to jail. At least they could have shot them with fake bullets or something a little more lively. Seems like the challenge was not that challenging.
