Rant: I Hate Google Adsense

I started a blog recently and decided I was going to allow ads to appear on my blog site.

The funny thing... I applied for adsense over a week ago, and I immediately got rejected for "insufficient content."

So, I added a slew of additional posts and even changed around my template to allow visitors to search different parts of my blog. That should work, right?

Ehhhhhhhh...

I applied a second time -- this afternoon -- and again got rejected for the same damn thing. My wife actually got a hold of a telephone number to inquire what the hell they mean by "insufficient content." She calls google, only for them to tell her, "there is no telephone number for that..."

Adsense sucks...

Anyone else having blog issues or anything else having to do with adsense?

I didn't have that problem at all when adding ads to my blog, only I got insufficient traffic to get over the payment threshold. I only had like 5 (short) posts when I applied...

How many visitors are you getting? If it's very few, it's probably not worth the hassle for Adsense to include your site.

If you use Google Analytics and get healthy traffic, they'll contact you instead of you contacting them.

Good to know.

It turns out there may have been some ambiguity; they thought I was trying to add AdSense to a corporate website! Not at all the case!! I actually changed the URL for my blog to make it look more like a typical blog.

In any event, I'm getting close to 40 viewers a day. I just maxed out at 38 today (my highest daily total thus far), and I only have 8 posts for now.

My total traffic tho is up and over 120, and I actually started my blog a couple of weeks ago...

I'm not really getting much in the way of feedback, but I am trying to inform folks via facebook, linkedin as well as my rather limited google-plus circle...

Just curious, what kind of content are you posting? Is this a personal blog?

It is a personal blog, and my content is mostly current urban planning and design topics and issues and my point of view of those topics/issues. I'm trying to eventually work as a columnist for one of my groups on linkedin; it's good practice.

Plus I'm trying to show what exactly I know regarding land use/zoning/transportation planning practices. I'm eventually going to try to post info pertaining to the planning commission meetings I attend (I'm on my borough's planning commission), but right now, I'm not sure of how to post such information that won't offend anyone -- I have a pretty strong opinion about some issues...

Why don't you focus on putting up solid relevant content and building an audience rather than getting ads on your blog?
Doesn't really make sense if you've had 120 total pageviews to be worrying about ads which you will get close to zero dollars for and may turn off potential users.

That does make more sense, and I am trying to put up posts almost on a daily basis to boost traffic. There's almost always something newsworthy in the realm of city/regional planning (transportation projects, parcel developments, subdivision developments, etc...) So there is plenty of material out there...
