Great day for racing so far with the Monaco GP and Indy 500 events.

Brazilian Tony Kanaan finally wins the Indianapolis 500 after what, some 10 or so tries. Although the last two laps were under caution, the immediately preceding restart was really something else with three cars fighting side-by-side after the green flag. Dario Franchitti crashed with two remaining laps bringing out the final caution. The race leader changes were double that of last year's record making it really interesting.

Congrats also to 21 year old Carlos Munoz finishing second. It was his very first Indy car race, and at the "500" no less. regards...jack

Great race. Happy for TK. The crowd was looking a bit sparse though.

I thought the race was great... Up until the last two laps. I don't want to take anything away from TK -he ran a great race, and was never far from the lead- but I really wish that IndyCar would put something in like what NASCAR has where they try to finish the race under green every time, I would have loved to see Munoz try for the win, or even Marco.

No way, the last thing Indycar needs to do is emulate NASCAR and it's contrived finishes. TK was the leader of the last green flag lap so he wins. Also, what if you make your fuel strategy correct right to the 500 mile mark and then they add laps and you run out? How is that fair? 500 miles means 500 miles, green or not.

It's cutting the race short, he didn't win at mile 500, he won at mile 495, which also isn't fair. I mean, there is a reason that there are more fans at NASCAR races than IndyCar races, you are assured at least an attempt at a green finish, which is always a better finish than a finish under yellow.

When you push the reset button and have a GWC, then what happened in the race before now becomes mute. The just like the dumb chase thing.

Which is ironic, because in F1, if there's a safety car at the end, it's the end. No gimmick. And last I checked, F1 is 10x bigger than NASCAR.

I'm happy TK won finally, he's been trying forever.

Last I checked, it's the Indy 500, not the Indy 505.

500 miles and not an inch more - this is tradition we're talking about, not some made for TV spectacle like NASCAR is.

Yeah, but that doesn't happen often since F1 is not all about the crashes (    ). I think the last time it happened, it was in Monaco and there was some controversy over it. There has been a few races stopped by heavy rain though, that never resumed, quite a crappy finish but it is what it is, we don't want the elements out of the equation either.

It's no different than a caution in the middle of the race.

You're making the same fallacy as people who focus on a bad call at the end of a game rather than the middle. The impact is not more or less, after all a basket in the first minute of the game is worth the same as a basket in the final minute. It's just that there is more clarity of the consequence.
