Been to Berlin a zillion of times, mostly on transit to poland though, which always is something like central station -> s-bahn -> Quick check, TV-tower still there? good! -> hipster leave me alone, bloody moron -> Lichtenberg station -> Hell outta there! So that doesn't really count...
*Visited* Berlin maybe 3 1/2 times, and even though I like it as a city and I love the locals, it's just not my cup of tea.
Too loud, to wild, to hip for my taste and I'd consider myself everything but a boring person
Opposed to that I've been to
Copenhagen ~ 20 times
Warsaw ~ 15 times, but a bit like Berlin, mostly transit, but often with overnight stay. I still prefer Krakow and Gdansk over Wwa
Vienna ~ 15 times
London ~ 10 times
Additionally I've properly visited Oslo, Stockholm, Riga and Belgrade more often than Berlin, plus a dozen of visits to Barcelona and Zurich which, of course, aren't capitals so don't qualify

No national capitals make that list, but for state capitals, I've lived in Wisconsin and Illinois. Never visited (traveled through a few times by train, but never stayed) Springfield. Rarely visited Madison. On the other hand, I've probably visited Sacramento, Denver, and maybe one or two other state capitals more times than the capitals of my home state.
That said, despite being in a number of state capitals, I've never been inside a state capitol.

Well, I have three citizenships, so I guess you could say that I have three capitals; however, I consider Washington, DC, my primary capital. I've visited once. On the other hand, I've visited Madrid 20+ times, along with other European capitals several times.
The 747 will always be the TRUE queen of the skies!
Not the capital. Berne is the capital of Switzerland.
I live in the USA, so my capital is Washington, DC. I've been quite a few times, but it's beaten out by ATH by a long way. No other country has had my grace its capital with my presence more.
I live in NY and have never been to my state's capital. By that statement, I've visited several European capitals more than my own state's:
Berne, Switzerland (4x)
London, England (2x)
Paris, France (1x)
Warsaw, Poland (1x)
Vienna, Austria (1x)
Brussels, Belgium (1x)

If state capitals of the US count, may I then also include their counterparts from, say, Germany as well? Or shall we agree they don't count either?
Can't claim I visited capitals other than 'my own' more often, but having said that a quick back of the fag packet did reveal I've been to 40-some all in, and some of those more than 10 times. Few of them too many times to count.

National capitals? None. I can not count the number of times I have been to the state legislative building in Salem, Olympia, Salt Lake City, and Boise. I know I have been to the capital building in Sacramento at least 3 times just because. Carson City would be a tie with that. Because I was in Juneau for three months and walked by the capital building every day, would that count as multiple times? I say yes, but that is for the fans to decide.

Quoting PITingres (Reply 2): you have to work to avoid Bridgetown if you visit Barbados
Well, BGI is in Christchurch not St Michael so is "relatively speaking" a little way from Bridgetown. If you are staying on the west coast in St James or St Peter and take the Ronald Mapp Hwy from the airport you can techincally avoid Bridgetown. But I get your point, if you want to do anything too much you will probably end up there at some point
I have never been to Ottawa but I was born, raised and worked in London for the first 23 years of my life.
Also been to Amsterdam, Paris twice, Tallinn, Valletta, Tokyo, Edinburgh, Budapest, Prague, Rabat, Nairobi and the aforementioned Bridgetown many times.
I have techinally also flown through Belfast, Lilongwe, St John's and Port Of Spain but not left the airports.
Blantyre and Dar Es Salaam are also the commerical capitals of their respective countries, but not where the seat of parliament is.

Difficult for me to say, as I live in Manila (technically the metropolitan area, but for all intents and purposes the capital of the Philippines), but since I also hold U.S. citizenship, I can also say I've visited a number of capital cities more times than Washington, D.C., which I've seen once.
Countless times: Manila, Warsaw 10+ times: Amsterdam, Tokyo [both mostly in transit] 5-9 times: Paris (5), Singapore (6) 3-4 times: Athens (3), Bangkok (3), Berlin (3), Bucharest (3), Taipei (4) Twice: Kuala Lumpur, Lisbon, Madrid Once: Beijing, Belgrade, Bratislava, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Helsinki, Jakarta, Jerusalem, London, Podgorica, Prague, Riga, Rome, Skopje, Sofia, Stockholm, Tallinn, Vienna, Vilnius, Washington D.C., Zagreb
