Due to a heatwave in the UK/Ireland at the moment lots of people are getting sunburn. Some just dont care but letting your children burn is stupid bordering on child abuse. How can parents be so stupid. Its not as if there are not warnings day in day out on TV about the dangers.
4-week-old baby treated in hospital for severe sunburn
A FOUR-WEEK-OLD baby has been treated at the Queen Victoria Hospital for severe sunburn during the recent hot weather.
The current hot weather, which has seen temperatures soar past the 30 degree mark, has led to a worrying number of admissions to QVH's specialist children's burns unit.

It is Ireland though. People who live there really do not know how to handle sun plus they are very fair skinned in general so a severe sunburn, especially on a 1 month old, comes on very quickly. Don't be so quick to judge the parent(s) on this.
I did get a chuckle on the heat "soaring" past 30 degrees though, that's a winter day where I live.
I do have to add though that the temperature had nothing to do with the sunburn, it could have been 20 degrees and the suns rays would have been the same.

it's getting harder not to tell people they are really odd if they think an airplan can be sexy.

Well this was in the UK and they are told 24/7 about sun creams and sun burn and skin cancer etc... Also here in Ireland there is wide awareness as they flock to the Canary Islands/Spain/Portugal and Greece for Summer Sun and Winter sun so they really do know. Also major ad campaigns in many pharmacies and department stores. I dont even have kids and I know I wouldnt take a 4 month baby into the sun.

There's been quite the issue around here (Southern Ontario) lately of people leaving children in cars. The police can't figure out why there have been more cases this year than any other year. Same goes for dogs.
I don't know what goes through people's heads when they leave a child or dog in a sweltering car, if even for just a few minutes. If you plan on running an errand that your child cannot accompany you on, then do the errand when there is someone to watch the child (that's also ignoring the fact you shouldn't leave a small child alone anywhere). Likewise with dogs, if you are going somewhere the dog is not welcome, leave them in the house for crying out loud! The dog doesn't need to go for a ride.
It's hard to believe that some people are actually to stupid to have children...

It defies explanation why anyone would think it sensible to leave a child or an animal in what is essentially a very heavy, metal-framed greenhouse on wheels. I came back to my car the other day when it was about 30 degrees, and it had been sitting in direct sunlight for several hours. The steering wheel was literally too hot to touch for a little while, I had to a/c the car and shade the steering wheel for a good few minutes before it was acceptably cooled. It's an incredibly cruel thing to do.
