Quoting bmacleod (Thread starter): The last 2-term president to finish his presidency in year of Rooster was Woodrow Wilson in 1921. Wilson like Obama was only other president to win Nobel Peace prize during his presidency (1919).
Wilson like Obama also won re-election with a closer electoral margin that his first election. He decided to enter World War 1 in 1917, despite the majority of Americans who were against doing so.
There were clouds in the sky over Rio when the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan. Therefore, those clouds caused Fukushima to melt down and my balloon to pop. That is why I hate the Kazaks so much.

I'm sure you could find a bunch of coincidences for any 2 presidents out there then come up with a random claim. Personally, I find comparing WWI to this possible Syria intervention a stretch. In the broadest sense they are similar but other than that... yawn
Reminds me of the 2012 election... everyone had some random tidbit or model that was gonna predict who would win. You had some University of Colorado model that was supposedly retroactively accurate for the last bunch of elections that predicted Romney would win, a bunch of "every President lost reelection with unemployment above _%" tidbits, etc. When there are literally, billions of factors that go into any Presidency, it's very very easy to pick out a dozen similarities.
Though maybe a little off topic: Who was the last President to be elected or reelected in a year ending in 8? Richard Nixon won in 68 and handily reelected in 1972 but resigned therefore not completing his second term.
1988 George Bush (41) lost reelection in 1992.
1968 Richard M. Nixon see above
1948 Harry S. Truman elected to his one full term. Did not run in 1952
Interestingly FDR never had an election in an 8 year
1928- Herbert Hoover, lost to FDR in 1932
Was Theodore Roosevelt the last President to win an election in an 8 year (1908) and served two terms?

Theodore Roosevelt became president upon McKinley's assassination in 1901. He was elected to full term in 1904. Howard Taft was elected in 1908 but lost re-election in 1912 as Teddy's Bull Moose party split the vote and allowed Woodrow Wilson to win....
I believe Ulysses Grant 1869-1877 was last president elected in 8 year to serve 2 terms....
