"It's not arms, its only treads for armored personnel carriers. It's not something that can kill people," Misgav said.

This would be comedy if this kind of opinion weren't so rampant.

After all, guns don't kill people..........bullets do.

peculiar story. an israeli company selling armored personal carrier treads to Israel's gravest enemy.

glad to hear israel and germany are working close together to figure this out.

good thing germany has that ship-to-iran ban.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend ... Iraq is more of an enemy to Israel than Iran, especially as the grip of the Ayatollahs seems to be slackening...  Big grin

Irony: Germany assists the Jewish state heading off weapons bound for its' archenemy, Iran.

Obviously we're a lot farther from, say, 1938 than a mere 64 years.

What help will Iran be rendering Israel in another 64 years? How many Home Depots will open in Iraq in 64 years? How many Muslims will get elected to the US Congress in 64 years?

My old man bought it in Viet Nam. Boeing aggressively attempts to secure an airliner deal there, where one of that company's more prolific products flattened half the country 30 years ago. Actually the 767 looks pretty damn good in their new livery if I do say so myself.

History constantly reminds us what short-sighted asses we are.

Perhaps the same kind of help the two sides were exchanging 25 years ago?

BTW, I have to disagree with Ceilidh on the Iraq being a greater threat to IL than Iran thing. Iran is the one much more likely to try nuking Israel with their Shihabs, quite soon.

i also agree - israel has long regarded the iran as a much stronger enemy than iraq.

however, the us has moved the talk to iraq, and when the us needs assistance there is only one thing israel should say: what can we do to help?

iran's nukes will be ready in about 4 years. you can bet israel is counting the seconds.

Maybe the world (and especially the Muslem part) should learn from the example set by Turkey.
They're among Israel's best friends, including far reaching cooperation on defense issues as well as civil.
Joint exercises, joint development projects with regards to water and energy, etc.
Goes to show that the enemy of Israel is NOT Islam but those abusing it for worldly goals.
Just as the enemy of Jews is NOT Germany (and never was) but a social phenomenon that at one point was strong there. Anti-semitism wasn't invented by the Nazis in Germany, it has existed for 2000 years or more. The Nazis also weren't the first to try to exterminate the Jews (though they were the most effective due to the industrial power they had relegated to the task).

The Jordanians are also good friends of the Israelis now. CAL overhauls its aircraft and engines in Amman, for example.
