Hello forum users.

Today was my first day of school, and we already have an assignment.
Our teacher asked us to ponder what the "American Dream" really is. Money, entertainment, freedom of religion, etc...This can be current American citizens dreams or it could be immigrants who just moved to America, or better yet, people of foregin nations giving their insite.

I would love for you guys to help me out. This was not an "assignment" however, I love to make my "assignments" creative and all support is appreciated.

I am going to show her what the world wide people think of the American Dream. Even you Europeans could help out by chiming in your thoughts as to how you see the "American Dream". Both positive and negative comments are welcome, however please make it constructive!!

I believe the American Dream is money. People come from all over the world to America to be rich  Smile. They want to live in "big house" and drive "fast car".

Thanks.

Many people came here for freedom for persecution on account of their religion, race, ethnicity, etc.

Many came here for the freedom to start their own business and make their fortune. The money is a side-effect, although an important one.

My mother and I came to the "new world" to get away from the tyranny of communism in Hungary.

Well acording to johnny dep, from the movie "Fear and loathing in Las Vegas" the American dream is getting twisted on a drug binge in Las Vegas. However I doubt that would be a wise concept to mention in class!

To me, the 'American Dream' is married with children living a comfortable middle- to upper-middle class life.

...a wife, a house, 2.5 kids, cat, dog, fish, white picket fence, 2 car garage...overwork, stress, heart attack, stroke and drooling while you sit in your adult diapers at the age of 50.

but seriously, to quote Thomas Jefferson et. al. "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

regards,
Tom

Some people want to live the Brady Bunch life in the 'burbs. Some want to be 16 hour a day yups in $2000 suits. Some wanna rent jet skis and get a suntan.

The American Dream is no one thing, but rather the freedom to pursue your one thing.

The American dream is a penthouse above Manhattan with lots of hot chicks to bang.
Also, you have to drive a long black Cadillac with a diamond in the back, sunroof top and a gangsta lean.  Smokin cool
