I started thinking about something today. Are guys as a group of people Chronic Liars/Exaggerators?
I was hanging out in the dorm room with a bunch of my buds talking about guy stuff. What cars we'd driven, what women we'd slept with, what things we've done and gotten away with, etc. Going with the flow (and I guess subconsciously trying to just fit in and all) I was making up quite a bit of stuff just to one up my friends and all. Yet another thing that guys do. And thats when I realized, that is something we all do. Or at least it seems so, theres no way everything I said today really happened, and I seriously doubt a lot of the stuff my friends said actually had happened either.
examples: My friend says he's driven a Mustang putting out 350hp. Thats great, I've driven my friend's Camaro Z28 (stock)...why not say it was modified to put out 400? My friend says he had a really hot girl come over earlier. Why not say the girl I was hanging out with the night before spent the night?
Whats up with this? Why do we do it? I'd rather not (in fact I think its really stupid), but I usually don't even realize I'm doing it until afterwards. Has it ever caught up with any of you? I'm afraid that it will with me sooner or later.

I seldom lie unless I'm trying to have my way with a manager at a store about something. I almost always tell the truth to my friends, as well as to most people I know. This, of course, has everybody thinking that I'm a tactless A-hole.

Lehpron, just because you spilled your guts about all your problems and short comings in your insanity thread doesn't speak for the majority of guys. It was your choice to volunteer that info remember.
I have never once heard one guy speak of anything negative regarding himself. Nor has any other guys I have talked to here at NAU remember someone breaking down and saying how tiny or weak or disliked they are. Of course there are a few rare examples out there. In general its safe to say men wont swallow their pride! In most cases, rightfully so.
I think that most guys including myself will go by the term of "Cover your ass" when it comes to bending the truth. But there are many people I have known, will tell massive lies just to make themselves part of a conversation in which they have no business in. The lies stem from wanting to fit in for a lot of people who have trouble doing so. Sad but true that this is the way of the world. I don't ever think there will be an end nor a decrease in the tiny fibs that guys and girls will tell.

KaiTakFan, said that "Men won't admit their shortcomings to other men., by saying MEN, the implication was that "all males" won't admit. By me saying "I beg to differ, " I have signified that I am not the majority of males and that saying that "MEN won't admit..." is completely incorrect. That is, spilling ones guts is just something I have to do since I do believe that other men here at ERAU are very emotionally incoherent so I pretty much have to!
The meaning of life is curiosity; we were put on this planet to explore opportunities.

Well, women do the same thing men do except they hug instead of high-five after telling the lies.
