If I wanted to see a bunch of rice rockets for two hours, I'd go to our local repo or impound lots. Or to see them in action, I'd just go to any intersection around here.  Big thumbs up

I hear the lead car is going to be the legendary R34 Skyline GTR. This car is seriously fast and would kickass over just about anything on the road bar a Ferrari.

That isn't what the sequel will be about......

The movie studio wouldn't use cars again....That has been done once.

His brother gets in troube with some drug dealers so he supposed to steal 100 airplanes and deliver them to the corrupt drug dealer in South America.

He will of course have 24 hours to do it.

They haven't decided if a Citiation X or a restored Grumman Duck will be the lead vehicle.

As the proud owner of the aforementioned Nissan Skyline R34 I can vouch that it is one hell of a cool car to drive (although a bit more 'pedestrian' in terms of handling than you might think). However my car remains as it was when I bought it - no modifications apart from removing the Japanese speed limiter. A rice boy I ain't.

I just realized that is a picture of a Chevy Cavalier (the red car)

I have one of those.

I would never rice it out though.

Those low rider fairings and attachements just don't hold up to the snow we get up here.

Hey Ryanb i also drive a Nissan- 180SX in my case. In my opinion for the money turbo Nissans are one of the hottest types of cars out there- you definitely get plenty of bang for your buck with these cars even in stock form. Oh mine aint exactly stock but it's nowhere near Rice either- i have a set of mag wheels, 3 inch cat back exhaust, blow off valve, Trust pod filter- the rest is stock.

positive rate- with a skyline you dont need to do anything to it. the inline 6 makes it truly a japanese muscle car. the supra and skylines are the only japanese cars i have respect for.

I'm not a big fan of "Rice Racers" either. I saw TFATF just to see what the fuss was about, and must say, it is DEFINITELY the ultimate "Ricer" movie.

But let's be honest folks. For all of the shortcomings of Riced out Hondas versus American Muscle, Ricers are here to stay. Chrome and steel are out. Plastic, fiberglass, and graphics are in. How many of you listen to the same Rock and Roll music your father did? How many of you are going to race a car that's older than you? Every generation has its identifying trait, and for those in their 20's today that are fans of racing, this is it.

I'm not talking about the "should be's", or even willing to entertain the argument over which looks and performs better (Detroit steel versus Japanese aluminum), because if you stop and think about it, it's a moot point. It's along the same lines as what's popular in fashion and music. If it has mass appeal, then it's "good". It doesn't matter that YOU think it's silly when 3 milluion other people think it's "da bomb".

The reality is that there is a HUGE loyal following for Rice Racers, and they are here to stay.

Although I'm not one of them. Indeed, they are pretty obnoxious, and the picture of the lanky kid above echoes my personal feelings to a tee. I just have to be realistic.

but the thing is, this car are just about as slow now as they were when they got off the cargo ship from japan. they all look the same. i guess they think the altezza lights and the carbon fiber wing give it horsepower.... i strongly dislike the ricer cars... and yes i would race an older car... ie: 67 Z28

Hey positiverate, yes Nissan sports cars are amazing value. But here is something that will make you sick. The Skyline R34 retails for £54000 new in the UK. I picked up a 6 month old model with only 1,500 kms on the clock in Bangkok for £14000! It is a Japanese spec model so I shipped it to the UK and had the Jap speed limiter removed (this actually makes the insurance LOWER even though the car is now faster - explain that one!!!). And contrary to what you might think the fuel economy isn't that bad. I've only really pushed it once in the UK, when I gave my work colleague a 'race' against his BMW M3. The acceleration is brutal.

My wife has driven it up to 156 MPH (266 KM/H) on the Bangna Trad Expressway in Bangkok - now THAT was scary!!!

14,000 is very cheap you got yourself a bargain. Yeah they are pretty much the same price over here in Australia- about AUS$100,000 for a brand new R34 GTR. Very expensive, man if i could find one that cheap i would buy it definitely. The R33 GTR is a bit older but also a very quick car and a lot cheaper too- maybe i will get one of these one day.
