Hi guys,

I'm pretty sure there are! I've got my megadeth CD collection out once again, and let me tell you this kicks the sh*t out of anything nu-metal or Indie or Hard rock!!!

Tbh I don't even think they are totally thrash metal, there is a bit of melodic metal too. Mmmmm, Damn I wish i'd seen them live....  Crying.

I want the album 'Rust in Piece' so bad, shame they don't sell it in HMV or Virgin Megastores  Sad.

lol yeah, but Dave went onto great things with Megadeth (who I think were top metal band for a time ahead of metallica), and megadeth didn't crash and burn as badly as Metallica did  Laugh out loud

I love Megadeth! "Mastermind" is my favorite song of theirs. "Vortex" is cool too, as are quite a large amount of their songs.

Megadeth is NOT thrash metal. Slayer and Sepultura for example are thrash metal bands. That's something else.

Sebolino - They ARE a thrash metal band. Their 80's stuff was thrash metal, pretty much like Metallica were. They just changed their style (and lineup) in the 90's to a much more hard rock style.

Rust in Peace rocks, "tornado of souls" is my favorite track. I saw them live on the Youthaneasia tour, but it wasn´t too good, my mates saw them with
AC/DC last summer and it rocked they said. Shame that they don´t play anymore....

Metallica never was a thrash metal band.
It was considered underground at the beginning, cos' it was quite rude for the time.
They have made some thrashy songs like "Fight fire with fire" or "Battery".
But "Kill'em all" was not a thrash album, no no no.

Of course, that's always the same problem with labels. It depends on what you want to put under it.
But if you listen to Soulfly, Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, you will find Metallica and Megadeth really soft.

I used to like Megadeth a few years back, but I guess I've "softened" my musical taste. . .adulthood I guess. They were a great band; I use the word "were" because I havn't really heard any of their newer material, and I guess the last record I really listened to was the one including Symphony of Destruction. . .I know, old and I don't even remember the name of the record. . but it was a great record. Can anyone tell me if they have the same lineup as back then? I really loved Marty Friedman's guitar works.

Sebolino - did i say metallica were a thrash metal band? I don't think i did, well Metallica were a speed metal band anyway with some thrashy songs.

i dont think metallica would really be considered a speed metal band... i think like black metal like deicide or cannibal corpse are speed metal...

What?! ROFL....

Let see who still has a band... Megadeth? Nope, broke up. Metallica? YES, still together and has sold way more records than Megadeth...

In the VH1 top 100 artists of Hard Rock: Megadeth - 69. Metallica - 5.

Who will be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Megadeht, no. Metallica, YES.

And Dave only started Megadeth to try to beat Metallica, which of course he never did. Dave's lyrics and vocal capabillities are far inferior to James'

BrianHames,

Some day you'll find real metal and realize what a joke Metallica is. I did years ago, as does every metallica fan sooner or later.

You amuse me Flyf15....

Metallica are the pioneers of metal, certainly they were influenced by hard rock bands, but are one of the pioneers of metal. And there is no joke about it.

I'm well aware Metallica has no bass player, he left February 17, 2001.

But however this thread IS about Megadeth.

Cx340, Megadeth is gone, "Symphony of Destruction" comes from "Countdown to Extinction" record. If you should buy a newer Megadeth record try "Cryptic Writings".

Brianhames, ever heard of In Flames?

I'm not some Metallica hater. Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets were great albums. I have a Metallica poster in my room at home. I'm just saying, they're nothing compared to whats out there, they've been a joke ever since Load.

Flyf15 - I totally agree! The Black album was the last decent album, Load was average at best. Obviously something went wrong.. I don't like their attitude. I mean they've changed their style completely to stay popular with the younger generation, and then the whole sueing of whatever it was ... grrr!!!

There are lots of great bands still, and lots still giving out great Metal songs. Just look at 90's bands like Nevermore and Stratovarius (formed in 1984 I know), yay!

Oh ok, I understand, I can respect that then. I thought that you were saying Metallica in their entirety is a joke.

Nope, I haven't heard of Flames, I'll check them out though.
