I am intrested in what the negative or positive things you have heard about Jews are. Allso, for each of these things I wonder if you think they are true or not. Have you been taught anything about the Jews that you don't agree with... or you agree with but many people don't? Or perhaps you have your own oppinions.
I'll start:
Jews are cheap - no more tha anyone else IMHO.
Jews are very closed minded - the very relligious ones yes, but so are any super-relligious people.

Jews have horns - No clue where this came from, but sadly still believed in parts of the world, even in Europe by some very backwards, close minded people.
Somebody Jewish looks Jewish - I get this all the time, because I don't look Jewish to somebody. I'll tell them I'm Jewish and they say "What, you're Jewish?"
Jews are thieves and scoundrels - This has been used to scapegoat the Jews into the worlds problems, perfect example, Hitler used the Jews as a scapegoat for Germany's economic problems after WWI because the Jews were managing to stay afloat economically while the rest of Germany was in shambles.
Yet there are good things about Jews that are "known"...
Jews have good economic sense - I tend to believe this one. It goes hand in hand with the stereotype above. Jews have historically been the ones involved with money, banking, trading, etc. That's what's gotten them persecuted, but what has also brought them such great success, i.e. the incredibly fast growth of the state of Israel economically.
Jews are always ready to help - Whenever something bad happens around the world (natural disaster, plane crash, terrorist attack), Jewish medical teams from Israel and other places are always there and typically some of the first foreign groups on location.

I disagree with that entirely. Most civil libertarians or members or the ACLU are Jewish and they can hardly be classified as "closed-minded". Secondly, over 50% of the Jewish population in the U.S. marries someone of another faith. The Jewish population in the U.S. is expected to decline by 2 million over the next two decades. The inter-fath marriage rates of Jews in other Western countries are much, much lower.

I dunno, probably is true One of my good friends in HS was Chinese, and three of her best friends were white, jewish guys (including myself). She never dated any of us, but she would joke around with it.

Big noses...? Well, you know what they say? Big noses mean big feet, and big feet mean... OK. They don't actually say that... but wouldn't it be nice if they did.
One major problem I face is my parents thinking my desired career and hobbies (I plant to go into the US Air Force and I like to fly) are unbecoming of a Jew... so annoying.

My sister is Jewish (she converted when she got married) and as she's Scottish as well you'd think that getting money out of her would be a real uphill task! Not at all though ... she's very generous.
Personally, I have never encountered any stereotypes about anyone that are 100% true - you have good and bad in every colour, race, creed and nationality. Heck, I even have some non-crooked Nigerian friends!
Perhaps you guys could answer this ... how accurate are the Jewish mother stereotypes?

It's always interesting to hear negative stereotypes about Jews. I grew up in a very religious Christian family, and so therefore was never taught any of these things about Jews. Maybe because we're black, I don't know, as some people say the blacks and the Jews get along well, but I only started hearing negative stereotypes when I started college.
Growing up we were never close to any Jews, I certainly didn't have any Jewish friends, but we had absolutely no hostility towards them as we were always taught they were the "Chosen Ones". I remember seeing the film Return to Sobibor as a child and crying at the end, as I couldn't understand why the Nazis hated the Jews, and why they sent them to concentration camps. I simply had no concept of anti-Semiticism. I had no idea what it was, nor could I explain it.
In college most of my friends were Jews, and I even had no idea until my second or third year. I had no idea what a Jew looked like, and it wasn't until I found out about the last name thing that I sat and counted and realized almost all my friends were Jewish. That was quite shocking actually. I never had any problems with them whatsoever, and we got along great. It never occured to me to dislike them because they were Jewish, and I never understood this way of thinking.
Here in Vienna, as you can imagine, being Jewish is a touchy subject. I suspect a good friend of mine here is anti-Semitic, but he'd never come right out and say it. Some other friends have related very anti-Semitic experiences in Europe to me, but I myself have never seen any such thing overtly. Perhaps it's because Europeans, unlike Americans, tend to avoid direct confrontation, and even if they're racist/anti-Semitic, they're much more likely to keep it to themselves.

Regarding the Jews have horns myth, it is fairly well-documented. The entire basis for the myth comes from one word/sentence in the old testament. I am not sure of the exact passage, but when Moses is talking to G-d, rays of light were emitted from Moses head. However, the hebrew word for "rays of light" also means "horns", and so the entire myth is based on one mistranslation.

Funny you should mention that. My former wife had a problem with her father this way. Well there are tons of laws in the Shulchan Aruch (Jewish code of law) about proper business. Of course some people don't listen to religious law.

With someone like you, Mirrodie where you agreed to raise the kids Jewish, and since you are not the woman in the relationship (that sounds weird- judaism is passed on through the mother), its not bad. But when someone marries a non-jew and doesn't keep the Jewishness going, that's not cool. However there are plenty of Jews who know less about Judaism than non-Jews do.

If the woman is happy who cares about silly laws. These strict regulations are almost as bad as those perpetrated against women by the Taliban. However, the statement you mentioned should, according to our beliefs, actually be the other way around. It should be tha MEN who are looked down upon for marrying outside of the Jewish faith, for according to Jewish law, the "bloodline" or "religion" is passed through the mother. Therefore, if a Jewish girl marries a gentile, and the two have kids, the children are "technically" jewish by birth. It would not be the same way with a Jewish man and a gentile female, unless the mother has converted or the child was converted at birth.
