Dude...

You're insane for getting a car like that to drive in a city like Boston. With the Big Dig and the notorious Bostonian drivers out there, I wouldn't even take a '74 hatchback into the city!

However, I have to say that I am just a little bit jealous! I want this car!  Big thumbs up

Congrats. That's for sure one great car to drive.
I think the older Jag designs from the 80's and early
90's were a lot better. These new Jags just wanna
look unique even if they have to be that ugly.
In England car designers have nicknamed this Jag
the "loo" because of the front grill shape!
Anyways, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
Have fun.

KROC, a Horizon, you lucky dog!

My folks barely lent me the money to get an '84 LeBaron as my first. I had that car forever. It was a good 8 months before the Maintenance equalled the $1500 it cost. Oh, the sounds that came out of that car. I think it was the last Chrysler on Earth not to have power anythings abourd. And not even a tapedeck (Though it did have a digital tuner, rare for an 84 domestic...), lol good times.

I have to admit, when I first saw this post I thought it was ILS/Flight Level come back to haunt us. But no, it appears that someone is actually telling the truth!

Congrats on your new car, I hope you enjoy a nice piece of English craftsmanship!

Ok, someone has to say this: You spoiled a** little b*tch!  Wink/being sarcastic I'm thankful i don't need to buy my father a car, much less a brand new jagg. I hope you'r kidding when you say that your dad got it for you cuz you're making me really jealous. Nice ride otherwise.

Ah, those were the days. When I was in college I split time between an '85 Honda CRX, and '85 Oldsmobile Cutlas Supreme and my '88 Accord. Those cars got the job done and I never had to care about door dings and the general abuse a car goes through.

I hope you have good safe places to park your car wherever you go.

Very nice car. I myself do prefer the "classic" Jaguar, the XJ6 Series III, which I intend to find a pristine example of and own within the next few years. I will say one thing, though...you're lucky your dad has money to burn, because Jaguars are not only expensive to purchase, but also expensive to maintain. Treat her well, and she will treat you well.  Smile

FYI, I don't agree that Ford "ruined" the luxury of Jaguars. They are certainly among the finest cars on the road, and the build quality and reliability is eons ahead of anything Jaguar produced before 1986. There is as much wood and leather in Jaguars of today as ever, and they have the power and smoothness a Ford could never come close to.

My first car was a 1982 Volvo 244GL, silver with blue velour interiour, which I purchased myself using money I earned over two years cleaning cars. I was very proud of it, and it was quite the ride for me! The Volvo was only 5 years old when I bought it, and friends and clients swore it was the cleanest car in town.

Thanks for all the various kinds of responses. I would like to make one thing clear...Jaguar is a much improved car then its previous years...realibility is not nearly as much of an issue as it used to be....those who think it is like a Ford and drives like a Taurus have obviously NEVER been inside an S-type or driven it...

Flight152....yes the XJ8 is nice but i prefer the S-type for a variety of reasons one of which is that the new shape is coming out in the USA anytime now....My best friend had a XJ8 in black with the XJR full body kit on it and it looked just like the picture you posted just that it had bigger wheels. The S-type also handles better.

Thanks again for the responses everyone....well i dont see whats the big deal with my dad buying me a car as many of you have pointed out....in my culture it is given that parents pay for everything thier children want until the child has their own resourse....a fathers wealth is also his sons ...
About the car....last night while driving on the Massachussets Turnpike(Masspike) i touched 130 mph, about 210 Km/h on the car until i saw a cop car on the opposite side of the road and i slowed down.....but what i loved was that the car was beautifully stable at that speed(the XJ is not nearly as stable on high speeds) and had plentyyyyy left in it.

Well it´s a nice car. But I like the old design of the Jaguars much better. They look just flat on the street - like a Jaguar!

The XJ Type follows the tradition.

Have you ever seen that car with big aluminium wheels. Just great.
Looks elegant and sporty.

yes i can handle that alone. - - -famous last words

Man why didn't you ask your father to get you a XKR or XK8 instead? I don't think the used ones would be far more expensive than the one your father bought. It's a nice piece though i gotta admit and i am jealous as f*ck but i would have chosen a sportier car like the XKR or XK8 mentioned above.
