Hi Folks!

I had to take a bus to Chatswood this morning due to the temporary closure of the North Shore line over the weekend.

Nevertheless, Sydney has one of the best/largest Railway system in the World, along with Hong Kong, New York etc. But what time does the CityRail close??? Is it overnight???

Also, can I get a stored value ticket instead of a weekly ticket?????

And I remember that a few trains are equipped with toilets. For example the ones to Wollongong. Where do these trains normally go to? I guess somewhere far away right?

And one more thing, any plans to extend the network to Kensington/Kingsford???

Awaiting your reply.  Smile

Try this:

Although I live in the UK I've used CityRail quite a bit when I have been in Sydney, trains generally run up to around midnight, there was no stored value ticket available when I wasl ast there (a year ago) but the weekly tickets are very economical when compared with other major cities around the world.

Don't know the tory on the toilets...I never travelled that far out of Central Station for it to be an issue.

There are some services which run past midnight but you'd have to check the timetables from the Cityrail website.

Another great website to use is .

It's the most comprehensive trip planner / timetable website covering Sydney Buses / Sydney Ferries / Cityrail.

There are no *stored value* Cityrail tickets.

Cityrail trains with toilets are those that travel to the Central Coast / Newcastle, Blue Mountains / Katoombah / Lithgow, Port Kembla / Wollongong, Gouldburn.

Hope this helps.

I forgot to add, after 1am Nightride bus services replace trains on most lines unitl services resume around 4:3am.

Your Cityrail ticket is valid on these services.

UA,

They have toilets because their travel destinations are usually an hour away with long sections of *express travel* - where one might not get an opportunity to jump off the train to use station facilities.

Not sure why the link above didn't come out.
