Breaking news that McCarthy has resigned as Ireland's manager after agreeing a compenstion package with the Irish FA. More details on this BBC story.

Any bets that Roy Keane will become player/manager?

David

Good riddance to the egotistical toss pot. The way he treated Ireland's greatest ever player Roy Keane was nothing short of disgraceful.

Disgraceful. Ryanb741: How can you defend Keane?
If it wasnt for Mick, Ireland wouldnt have been anywhere as near as good as they are now.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with McCarthy's successor and Roy Keane. Will he come back into the side?

I cannot believe the way the Irish treated McCarthy over that episode. We all know Keane is a terrific player but his behavious was nothing short of disgraceful and McCarthy had no choice. Ireland's loss, this one. He won't be short of job offers.

Part of the reason is alleged to be the Keane affair. I really do wonder who the Irish FA will appoint after appearing not to support their manager fully in his (correct) actions over the summer. Would you want that?

Gong slighly adrift....which team turned up late for a Worthless Cup match tonight and wishes that they hadn't bothered turning up at all?

David
