I am coming into LHR for 1/2 nights, just to fly out on the SST.

While I am there (in January), anyone want to meet up at a pub?

I am goingto be there alone but wanted to maybe see some of London and maybe a soccer game in the area.

Hope to hear from you and meet up with some of you.

rgds, mirrodie

Yes I live London-but London is a big place, I'm way out west near LHR nearly 15 miles from the centre!

Sounds like a good idea, but at the moment I have no idea what I'm doing next week let alone in two months time. Could make some plans nearer the time though.

I live right next to LHR, 14 miles out from central London, but pretty much all my social activities are in London.

I have an flat in Notting Hill, W11, which is kinda fun... lots of cool bars n restaurants n stuff. I stay there usually 3-4 nights a week, and spend the rest of the time at my house in the Cotswolds.

I'm in London. If you feel like meeting a chick who won't bore you with talk of football, politics and try to show off by downing ten beers in the pub .... then give me a yell .... ;-]

I live 45' out of London but I am in London almost every weekend. London is a vast city so it might be difficult for you to meet every forum member that lives there.

Like everyone else here, I live in the suburbs, you'll probably circle over my head on the way in cos I live in Epsom, home of the famous VOR which is the main holding point for LHR. Every morning is like an airshow.

Post nearer the time, I'm back from Sydney on the 8th Jan. I've never met anyone from A.net, could be a giggle.

Lewis, you live 45 feet from the centre of town?

Alright BCal DC10, keep your hair on. I'll be zone 1 as well soon (Camden) but do you see me jumping up and down about it? Anyway, you're still not as central as our friend Lewis, who, as I already noted, lives 45' from the centre (which I believe is Marble Arch, at least as far as measurements on roadside signs go - London 120 means 120 mi to Marble Arch).

Especially one interested in aviation.

not strictly true Cedarjet... although I'm slightly going to shoot myself in the foot with this tit bit of info. According to "official" sources, all distances in the UK to London are not measured from Marble Arch, but Charing Cross (as in the actual Cross outside the station). Therefore I am actually further out in the "suburbs" than if Marble Arch was the centre....

Not to worry... Notting Hill is still a nice place to have a gaff...

There was a debate about the distance thing in METRO ... the general consensus is as BCAL says ... from Charing Cross. I'm near LCY ... but can easily get in and out of the city ...

At the top of my road there is an 'old highway' type milepost and carved into the stone obelisk are the words 'Hyde Park Corner 14 miles'.

In the old days Hyde Park Corner was the middle of London-although a few years ago when I worked for Barclays all the London allowances were based on mileage from Charing Cross.

We (the firm) have two apartments at the Washington Hotel (off Curzon). It's in Mayfair, I think. About a block from the park.
