I'm considering taking a cruise of the meditteranean this may, and was wondering if anyone has experience traveling in either of these regions. I'm leaning towards the tour of turkey, however we have some conerns about terrorism and the looming threat of war in the middle east. Despite this, turkey just seems more exotic and appealing, plus I've never been to asia so I wouldn't mind setting foot on the world's largest continent. Does anyone think I would be better off seeing spain and portugal instead?

The options are:
Option 1
3-4 days in Rome, then cruise to:
Monte Carlo, Monaco
Marseilles, France
Barcelona, Spain
Malaga, Spain
Seville, Spain
3-4 days in Lisbon, Portugal

Option 2
3-4 Days in Rome, then cruise to:
Sorrento, Italy
Naxos, Sicily
Santorini, Greece
Kusadasi, Turkey
Cankkale, Turkey
Istanbul, Turkey, and 5 days touring turkey, From Istanbul to Ankara

Cruises are for old people.

In your age you should try something different.

I would recommend Option 1, the French Riviera IS awesome in the summer. I have been there every summer since 1992 and I'll have no problem finding an excuse to return  Wink/being sarcastic

Aegean Sea is far more interesting place to be when you're young. I 've been to southern coast of France and my impression was that it's a place to go when you have money to spend.

Go search travelogues and such, they are very helpful.

I'd pick Option 2 just because of Santorini. It's an incredible island, if you're into geographic phenomenon.

You have nothing to worry about in Turkey. It's a very orderly state with a strong police presence, esp in the west where you'll be.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

I'd do option two: The costal cities of France and Spain are unbelieveably expensive. Also, if you do option two, you MUST go to Capri, what a gorgeous island! Big grin
