All you aviation photographers out there. Do any of you do any other kind of photography such as portraits, macros (close-ups of objects), nature, city, or other modes of transportation?

If so, lets see some examples.

I hope Johan doesn't mind this post. This post is simply aimed to get to know each other and what other kinds of photography we are interested.

Here is one of my examples taken on Lake Leman in Switzerland:

Sorry if the photo has a lot of compression on it, the free webhost I use compresses the images.

For those of you who are curious, I am a film photographer and have not went with the digital craze. Call me old fashion, call me wierd, whatever. I'm still very happy with film photography and have been getting excelent results.

I use a Pentax ZX-7 QD SLR body with 2 lenses, a 28-80MM and a 80-320MM. I think this shot was taken with my 28-80, but I'm not 100% sure. I tend to forget since I'm always switching lenses. I use a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II film scanner using VueScan and do final touchups and enhancements in Paint Shop Pro 7 using Unsharp Mask. This was taken with Fuji Sensia 100 slide film which is a very affordable slide film and produces good results as you can see from this photo. I also shoot K64. Hopefully I'll give Provia 100F a shot one day.

For full photography equipment details, check out my profile.

I'll upload some more photos later.

Lets see those photos!

Regards

You're gonna flame me for photographing while driving I know, but oh well...its all about tight apertures, 50mm lenses, and focusing on infinity

Oh yeah...check out massplate.jpg...definitely holds true for 495 anyway  Big grin

Ahh, different modes of transportation! Try http://www.photo.net/photodb/presentation.tcl?presentation_id=152876
for some railroad photography at my favorite location, or go here:http://www.sover.net/~tomh for more diversified stuff, but still pretty much transportation oriented.

In fact, aviation photography is an incredibly small proportion of my picture-taking. I apply myself to a variety of different photography styles, but the one I enjoy most is portraiture. I'd say I'm pretty good at it as well, but if I had the right equipment, I could do much better work. Oh well. I think I do need a new model though! Big grin

Thanks BA, yes I use film, the ones on my link are all Sensia 100, shot with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 and scanned on a Minolta Scan Dual II scanner.

Shawn,

Luv you sense of humour.

Thomas, the antenna is actually a communications antenna for NOAA’s polar orbiting weather satellites. You can’t really get a scale from the photo, but the antenna was massive… and it could move horizon-to-horizon in under a minute!
