Are there any ethics in the industry of plastic surgery? I find it to be a disturbing trend that so many people are getting themselves cut up for looks. With a rise in plastic surgery comes with a rise in botched plastic surgery.
Finding photos on the Internet was hard because a lot of what goes on is kept hush-hush until someone dies.
How come people just can’t be happy with who they are; fat, skinny, small breast, large breast, large rear, no rear, beer belly, etc.?
There seems to be no trend to stop this problem. The media and our society tell us that women are supposed to be under a size 7 (dress) and 30 C (bra). It’s all a fantasy and people are putting their lives on the line to look like the tramp on TV. If people want to be slim, exercise, control your diet and if that doesn’t work, live with it.
-A 50-year-old woman testified that the doctor, Abdolvahab Steven Pirnia, was supposed to perform a 3-hour breast augmentation procedure, but it became an excruciating 8 1/2 hour ordeal, with the implants rupturing twice, spilling onto her clothing. Another of Pirnia's patients - a 17-year-old girl - suffered infections after he performed breast implant surgery.
-In Florida, Donnie "Viva" Hendrix and Mark Hawkins are on trial for unlicensed practice of medicine, manslaughter and third-degree felony murder. Police say a Miami secretary, Vera Lawrence, died in March 2001 after Hendrix and Hawkins injected industrial-grade silicon into her hips and buttocks. Medical examiners say the silicone entered Lawrence's bloodstream, leading to her death. Several witnesses have come forward in the trial to allege Hendrix and Hawkins held "pumping parties" in a friend's apartment, where they would charge several hundred dollars for each illegal injection of silicone.
-She trusted him because he was a doctor. That was a mistake. Nearly three weeks later Helen checked herself into the hospital. Her abdomen was purple and blistered and she was in intense pain. Nurses told her that she was the fourth patient to arrive with complications after Dr. Hunter's liposuction.
-In his plastic surgery/urology malpractice complaint filed on March 10, 1997, Mr. Doe, who apparently thought that his penis was too small and his butt too big, alleged that on April 1, 1995, Dr. Sheldon O. Burman, founder and director of M.S.D. Institute botched his phalloplasty (penis enlargement) and liposuction of his buttocks. He claimed that has caused deformity to his penis which now points to the right, loss of sensation, and pain upon erection and ejaculation, necessitating a subsequent surgery by another plastic surgeon, and that the liposuction has also deformed his buttocks. He claimed severe emotional distress necessitating multiple treatments from numerous psychiatrists and psychologists.
This case is so disgusting, I will not post a direct link but the full story is here:

Well not exactly plastic surgery, but it is vanity which involves lots of pain.
Is there a part of the human psyche that wants to be tortured for vanity?
…and Michael Jackson.
What in the hell were he and his surgeon thinking of? What kind of thought process went in to this sort of gradual mutilation of his face? Do these doctors ever put there foot down and say NO, certain procedures can’t be performed? I understand he has lost of money and there are many doctors who are willing to take money and do what the patients want but this is just wrong.
Liberace paid for plastic sergury for his gay lover Scott Thorson to look like him.
Is there any ethics in this industry?
Of course there are a few success stories. I can see in cases of severe birth defects and burn victims, plastic surgery or reconstructive surgery may be required.

I read a story by a black femail journalist who visited several plastic surgeons and stated that she wanted to be whiter and more Europoean looking. Only one had the morals to refuse and told her she looked fine as she was. The majority of these surgeons are only interested in their own welfare and have forgotten their hypocratic oath.

In Michael Jackson's case, his plastic sergeon came out and stated that he "will never work on Michael's nose again".
Dr. Richard Flemings stated this after Michael Jackson was forced to move his surgical mask in court.
My question is, what if Michael wasn't dragging in to court and put in a situation to remove his mask?
Would Dr. Flemings continue to work on his face?

Superfly,
Yes it was for real, although the journalist had no intention of doing it. Some of the plastic surgeons were boasting about how white they could make someone. Sick or what?

Absolutley disgusting!
I think many of these people need psychiatric help instead of sergury.
I find it interesting that none of these plastic sergeons have ever had plastic sergury themselves. They are butchering weak-minded people and laughing there way to the bank.
What a sick society we live in to view this as normal behavior.

The only celebrity who can justify the plastic surgery that was performed on them was Tina Turner when she got her nose rebuilt.
In that case though the reason for the surgery wasn't vanity, but rather a rebuilt of the nasal passages which where full of scar tissues after all the times that Ike beat the crap out of her.
So I guess that counts as reconstructive rather the plastic surgery.

SICK? You want to see SICK? OK, take a look at the work of this "artist" from France... Her name is "Orlan" and her artwork is plastic surgery on her own body.

Lovely link Superfly! We'd rather not have to see that! hehehe.
People are truly messed up these days. Improving one's appearance by working out, eating well and having a nice balanced lifestyle does wonders that mere plastic surgery cannot duplicate. Also, dressing in a presentable manner and having good hygiene help too! But people must impress others all the time with this and that, either appearance, their car or other material goods, but forget who they really are inside and forget to show others respect and friendship. How sad.
