I found this article on www.fark.com . This is a very interesting story.

So what do you all think? I'll keep my opinions to myself until I see what some other people say first.

Why? Are you guys too afraid to discuss something that just might not make everybody happy? Lighten up, its only a discussion board.

My opinion, kudos to the guy for defending himself and the woman in this case. I still lean towards the view that gun control is needed though, because the majority of gun deaths in the United States are not from cases like this, but rather homicide.

In other good news.

The damage award in Nathaniel Brazill teacher shooting lawsuit in Florida was thrown out, yesterday. That was the one where the distributor was held liable for 1.3 mil.

Tbar220, it's already been discussed from every conceivable angle in the link that I posted. Seriously, go read it. It's in MSN's Extreme Politics forum which is where that type of debate belongs, IMHO.

L-188, hasn't Alaska seceded yet?  Insane

Don't be so naive. Guns kill people. Otherwise cars wouldn't have seatbelts.

I guess it depends on how strict the licencing is. The UK is a non-gun society, but in Thailand we own a Smith & Wesson 66 F Comp revolver. It is a .357 Magnum /.38 Special caliber. It is for protection (quite common in Thailand) and was given to us by my wife's mother, who is a high ranking army official. Have only used it once, on a venemous snake in the back garden!

I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

From my post on Road Rage this morning....

Road Rage – He had a GUN this morning!

I went to Starbucks to have a cup of coffee this morning. This SBUX location is on a very busy thoroughfare in Houston.

Large Acura sedan pulls slowly into car park. Large Mitsubishi Montero SUV flys into car park and yells something at sedan. Sedan yells back. They exchange words for a few more seconds. I was sitting outside, approximately 10 meters away.

I see SUV drive reach into his glove compartment, remove pistol and ‘cock it.’ Acura yells he has a gun too and pulls it out (other whiteness see the Acura’s gun, I only saw SUV’s gun).

And not just any gun. A fully automatic M-16 with a grenade launcher. Right, David???  Insane

Although your comment is an obvious exaggeration, it's pretty typical of the crowd that fears guns, though has little understanding of them, despite owning them themselves, but feeling that others shouldn't.

Guns are designed to kill people right?

For every responsible gun owner how many *irresponsible* gun owners are there?

We see it on the news all the time...

If you feel the need to have the protection of a firearm at any time you are living in a vicious, degraded and unsafe society. And that can only change through confronting why your society has turned that way.

Prevention is better than cure.
