Actually its not just him, I have had it happen to me plenty of times and have read on this site from other people too that they have had trouble getting on.

I am not arse-licking here, but come on guys! This site is brought to us thru the hard work of one or a few individuals who get nothing from us except abuse in return. Cut them some slack - it's their site, not yours! We don't have any feet to stand on to complain with if you can't get in or anything.

Look guys...you pay nothing and you get something wonderful. And you whine that the site goes down every once in a while...... come on. The site is slow at times, but you have to expect that. This is not a profit-making venture like Yahoo.com where performance is always high because of big budgets.

I was going to complain too...until I read N863DAs post. What he says makes perfect sense. Airliners.net is brought to us through the hard work of a few individuals, and not some major corporations. Let's give a little credit, where credit is due. Thanks N863DA!

Letting Johan know of problems we've been encountering is hardly abuse N863DA, if no one told him about problems it wouldnt matter if it was free because no one would be able to load the site! So give me a break if I want to let him know of a problem!

I would have to agree here.
Normally during 9PM GMT and 12 PM GMT the site is very slow. At 4PM GMT is is great.
I think the connection ast Lullea, Sweden is bad. Maybe Johan could consider moving the site to an American or British server or even a famous Swedish hosting thingy.

ISPs only provide a limited amount of bandwidth to customers at a certain cost. To get more, you have to pay more. And it is Johan's call to do that or not depending on the revenue generated by the site.
By monitoring the server statistics, I'm pretty sure that he has a good idea about the performance and demand for the site. I can't imagine why he is intentionally making the site slow.

LH423-same story with me. I will admit that this site has some downtime, but there are times when the WHOLE internet is down, so it's really uncontrollable. I gotta admit, that this site is the best on the web(probably because it's my favorite!)

USAirways737: Alerting the Administrators to various problems is fine, but the purpose of this thread was clearly to complain about something beyond the control of our esteemed Administrator. As the Administrator already said the last time this site incurred serious downtime was longer than I can remember. If Branvan3k is encountering these problems so frequently, he may want to consider a new ISP, because this was the first time I could not log into a.net in the longest time. I think by complaining about it is more or less insulting the Administrator. As I said before, he is doing this through his love of aviation, without coporate sponsership, other than the advertisers. If you read his profile you'll also notice he is a student. Let's give him a little credit for not only getting the site back up in such a short time, but also for running this site in general.

I could see your point if it was just him, but it isnt, it has happened to me and several other members. The point of the Non-Aviation forum is to allow the Administrator to be advised of problems. I'm sure he would rather be let known of problems than having us not be able to access the website. And I dont like having to defend myself for doing what this part of the forums was made for, Please LH423 give me a break.
