Man Utd To Win Champions League?

Funny team Man Utd. They are a distance behind Arsenal in the Premiership, and Arsenal look to be the better team but in Europe United seem to be unbeatable at the moment. Last night they went to Turin to play Juventus, and despite the fact that Man Utd had a team weakened by injuries they utterly smashed Juventus - which was Juve's first home defeat all season, and the first goal(s) they have conceded at home in this year's Champions' league.

So, although Arsenal are a better team than Man Utd at the moment, do you think that Man Utd's greater Champions' League experience means that they will win the Champion's League this year, or will Arsenal win it as everyone expected at the start of the season?

I think Barcelona have got a chance. They've won all their CL games so far.

I am baffled as to why United seem to win games in Europe at a canter, whether it's Basle or Juventus, while struggling to win against a relegation team like Bolton. Maybe it's to do with the fact that players like Veron and Van Nistelrooy are motivated by the prospect of playing in an arena like Juventus while not being able to pick themselves up for a slog at the likes of Bolton and Charlton on a wet saturday afternoon.

The way United are carrying on in Europe, they can win the CL. Today's Arsenal match versus Ajax will be a indicator as to whether Arsenal have what it takes to win the CL, i definitely believe so.

To be honest, I don't think Arsenal were ever on to win the Champions League this year... Their performances have always been poor in Europe, and whilst they have improved this season, I can't see them getting too far if they are struggling in the second round.

As for Manchester United, I don't think they played too well yesterday. They had one period of total control after the third goal, but apart from that Juventus had the better play, and basically contributed to Uniteds three goals..

What would have been funny though, was Gary Neville chipping Buffon... that was pretty unlucky Big grin.

........and what about Thurams challenge on Ferrara?? Nice..  Laugh out loud

Better play and contributing to United's goals mean nothing unless they win the match and pick up the points.  Big grin
Having said that, last season Arsenal won the league in Man Utd's backyard, imagine if we were to now win the champions league at Old trafford? That would be the ultimate humiliation to United.

My Money is on AC Milan, their performance so far is superior to any another team in the CL this year.

I agree with Racko, Milan is playing excellent soccer at the moment, it is a pleasure to watch the matches.

I am looking forward to 8:45 pm to see the next four matches.

Milan? No way. Juventus are a better team and Man Utd annihilated them. I don't think the trophy will be going anywhere apart from England or Spain.

Arsenal@LHR - nothing I've seen from Arsenal in Europe this season suggests they will get anywhere near winning it. They even lost to Dortmund! I think the Premiership and FA Cup will have to suffice again! Big grin

Today's match should be a reasonable indicator of how capable Arsenal are of winning the CL Ryan, also, when you get to the knock-out stage, it's all about how well you play on the day and as you know, we gooners can slaughter any team on our day. Big grin  Big grin

That is beside the point, the topic is whether United will win the Champions League or not, on the basis that they beat Juventus; a well regarded European team, 3-0 on their home turf. But thats only half the story as they might not be so lucky to be gifted 3 goals and have the woodwork save them in any other game...

Well, Arsenal drew 0-0, Once again a poor performance.. Considering they have probably the easiest group in the champions league, its a wonder why they haven't run away with the group already..

Newcastle did surprisingly well though..

On that performance, Arsenal are not gonna get anywhere near the final, one of the poorest performances in Europe in a long time.

I don't care what anyone says am keeping my faith in Real Madrid use haven't motioned the nine time, nine time, nine time, nine time, nine time, nine time, nine time, nine time, nine time winners and defending champions sure there a we bit out of form but the big time players are there and they will be at old traford come hell or high water I garandam teat. Anyways the trophy is either going to Milan, Madrid, Velincia where its most deserved or La corona.

Despite a rather poor performance by the men in red in the premiership and FA Cup, they have dominated the Champions League. Beating Basel, Deportivo, and Juventus x 2 says it all.

I'm sure The Champions League title is Fergie's first priority this season, as always... And I bet United will do everything in their power to reach the final at Old Trafford in May.

The two other UK teams have changed alot since before christmas. Arsenal who won their matches before new year have now made a 1-1 and 0-0 draw with Ajax, and are now even with the Amsterdam club on the table. They'll have to start winning matches again if they wish to make it to the quarterfinals.
Newcastle on the other hand have done really well since new year. After a poor start they have gained 6 points after beating Leverkusen twice, and are back in the race for promotion. Well done Toon army!

As for United, they have secured a spot in the quarters, and have shown great form in Europe all season. My favourites to win the Trophee this year.
