An anti-war march against the U.S. policy on Iraq by about 500 Canoga Park High School students turned ugly Wednesday when some in the crowd started looting a gas station convenience store and disrupting traffic.

Again, must I restate my position that many of these "peace" protestors are from the fringes of society. Just like the Rodney King case, although to a lesser extent in terms of destruction. Its ridiculous, all of those kids should be locked up for a couple weeks in juvenile hall. But then again, its Canoga Park, so the kids should be vets there!  Laugh out loud

These were high school students....

No further explanation needed

American students, even university and college students will turn any large gathering into a riot. This hardly makes supporters of peace look bad.

Don't generalize like that VonRichtofen. I have heard of plenty of protests with no riots.

BTW if they were college students, they may not have had money and just wanted a Slurpee.

What a stupid thing to say. You're telling me that people of that age have a natural propensity for looting and stealing? Ha!

This hardly makes supporters of peace look bad.

It certainly makes you look bad.

Gee, that's like saying that black people are naturally inclined to rioting, since they were mostly the race involved in the LA riots. Stereotyping is often inaccurate.

Demonstrations, regardless of their nature or political cause, tend to attract troublemakers who take advantage of the situation to cause problems. Those looters were definitely not "peace protestors"; they merely exploited the protests to stir up trouble.

The anti-war demonstrations held around the world have been mostly peaceful and civlized -- as you would expect from mainstream, middle-class protestors. There are always extremists and troublemakers around any protest, but those have definitely been in the minority.

Now does that sound smart Von? No, no it doest! So why do you say such crap that US students pull that crap?!?

KAUSpilot,

Either you are an imbecile or you just enjoy posting moronic pics. To portray peaceful protestors as terrorist sympathisers is the worst kind of un-American McCarthyism imaginable. It's revolting, no matter what one's political views may be.

Lighten up, PHX. I think the picture is terrific, and like all good jokes, is ingrained with a bit of truth. The fact of the matter is, whether they want to or not, and whatever their motivations, they ARE defending Saddam and other similar ilk by making it harder to remove him. That's an indisputable fact.

Kaus....My compliments.

What those peace demonstrators don't realize is that they are giving Saddam hope, hope that the protestors will overpower their governments will to enforce the UN sanctions against him. The UN definitely is leaving him alone.

It is that hope that empowers Saddam and gives him the will to go against the UN and their mandates they have set for him.
