FOX is reporting a flash from the Associated Press that some of Osama bin Laden's sons have been captured in Afghanistan.

More later, I'm sure.

Another great piece of news in the War on Terror.

It sounds like they may be tightening the noose on OBL himself. But he's a slippery fish, isn't he?  Smile

I think that for some of the critics of The War on Terror, the events of the past week are a huge vindication for what is going on behind the scenes, than none of us see. Obviously, Al Qaeda leaders are not being give a moment's rest.

And the reports are that these two "boys" are high up in Pop's orgainziation.

Two more who will have to learn to say "who's your daddy" in Arabic.  Big grin

In the words of Mongomery Burns......"EXCELLENT!!!"

This has been a very good month for the war on terror.

I just hope this report is true. ABC News hasn't been the most reliable source the past couple of days...

See that earlier posting about Binnie being captured...Not true.

According to Spiegel.de, Bin Laden has between 14 and 18 sons...seems like he used his Harem a lot.

I wonder why we are hearing so many news about catching bin Laden . If I was close to chasing him, the last thing I would do is trumpet it to the world before I had him in my hands.

Given the small success they US Govt is going to have in the current UN discussions, maybe it is time to distract the attention of the public to somewhere else.

Now THAT is just fucking hilarious. You think the US is like communist Russia or something??? We just decide when to swicth public attention somewhere and to what??

Will these misconceptions ever end???  Laugh out loud

Actually Clovis,

It's pretty true to the mark. It's behaviour that most Governments partake in all the time, heck our PM won an election on it.

Isn't that were the US cockped up before?Informing the world that they were tracking him through his mobile.Needless to say,Osama's account all-of-a-sudden became rather quiet. That really was foot in mouth.

Clovis makes a good point there. Also,US opinon on whether to go to war is around 50/50 is it not?Quite to manipulate people's thinking in such a situation.

BTW, just heard on the news that 5 Tunisians have been arrested in Spain today. They are supposed to be related to the bombing of the Djerba Synagogue in Tunisia last year, where most of the victims were German, and they have been detained by the Spanish Police at the request of a French judge. A good example of international cooperation to fight terrorism.

Well now for a moment imagine that yesterday the Interior Minister had told to the Press we had some Al Qaeda terrorists cornered in Calahorra, of course the birds would have flown. This seems to be what the US is doing once and again with bin Laden...

Krushny, if you think it's so friggin' easy to find Osama bin Laden, why the hell don't YOU go find him, and show us all what a piece of cake it is? Go on, show us!

What absurdity on your part!

A1, I never said that finding Osama was easy, how did you get that idea? I was trying to say two things :
- if I was after bin Laden, I would not say anything until I got him in my hands. Trumpeting the world that I have him cornered in such and such place, he is moving around the country in a van, etc is totally counterproductive as it gives hints to the chased man of what the enemy knows about him.
- what is the point of issuing this non-news precisely now?

"are supposed to be related to the bombing of the Djerba Synagogue in Tunisia "

which some appeasers of terrorism said was an accident, that a truck, accidentally went into a synagouge killing jews.

regarding to bin laden, it makes to find him before war on iraq starts, remember the 3rd in command has been caught and is squeelign like a pig. If bin laden or mullah omar is caputred it will boost the us position over iraq, especially if bin laden admits to links with iraq.

It is amazing what can be accomplised when nobody takes the credit

Just a clarification, later it was known that only one detainee was Tunisian. The other four are Spanish small-entrepeneurs involved in money laundering for AlQaeda and other extremist islamic groups. Apparently one of them had bought or leased the van which was later exploded by the synagogue.

Klax, you know much less about your country than you think.
But not only about your country. About all western countries.
But I must say, the disinformation during the first Iraq war (and which was admitted by CNN) was very heavy. The US have proved they are very good in that (during Vietnam war also, and what about McCarthysm ?)
