Last year, Austrian or German journalist Brono Schirra spent some time in Iraq for the weekly "Die Zeit" and barely escaped from Uduai Hussein's people.

Now he went back to northern Iraq to report from a war which started ten years ago. It is about Kurds versus Ansar-e Islam (if not: al-Qaida), Kurds versus Iraqis, WMD and the Kurds' waiting for American help.

I suggest everyone who can read German to give this link a trial before the new issue of Die Zeit is released tomorrow:
Schirra's reports are always haunting.

If I understand that report correctly, the things that Colin Powell presented about islamistic terror groups linked to Al Qaeda with WMDs turn out to be true. It seems to me that this terror group gets support from the regime, is linked to Al Qaeda, and has WMD like aflatoxines and anthrax. I do not think that this "Die Zeit" journalist gets his paycheck from the US state departement, I think this is an objective report. One more that makes me nervous.
I fear the day this toxins are used....

The problem with the people in the west is that they can be influenced easily.
I also have my contacts there and i can tell you that suggesting that the groups in northern Iraq have WMD is simply bullshit.
Weather this journalist gets his paycheck from the US, the Russians or even a Zionist organization is also not really important.

Again, in Germany we had enough number of Al Qaida people, does this mean that Germany is involved too? Al Qaida men have been arrested in more than ten countries.

The tragedy of Sep.11th gave the US the best excuse to play another role of Cowboy movie wherever, whenever they want

If you fear the imaginary danger of these groups, i fear the danger of the definitely existing Israeli WMD.

Amir, imaginary danger does not properly describe groups like al-Qaida or Ansar-e Islam.

You wonder if Germany is involved. But involved in what exactly?

I also have my contacts there and i can tell you that suggesting that the groups in northern Iraq have WMD is simply bullshit.

You have made contact with Ansar-e Islam? How interesting.  Yeah sure And even more interesting for the BND. I'm definitely not easily influenced but I think you are pretty naive if you are thinking they would tell you from WMDs they may have. I refuse to ignore major parts of the report like this:

Al Shamary says he co-coordinated smuggling weapons for Ansar-e Islam following an order given by the Baghdad regime. Between September 2001 und June 6, 2002, the day the PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) captured him, he organized to deliver three tons of material - mortars, guns, TNT, mines and ammunition - from Baghdad. Loaded on small pick up trucks, the weapons have been transported to Ansar's territory, he says.
Each delivery also contained chemical und biological substances which have been further processed at small laboratories located in the mountains. Ricin, Anthrax, Aflatoxin.

"Where are those laboratories?"

"In Sargat", Al Shamary says without hesitating.

"That's the village, which Colin Powell claimed there would be a facility for chemical weapons. We have been there, many journalist, camera teams and myself, too and we didn't find anything."

Al Shamary shrugs his shoulders. "Do you really think you have seen everything? Ansar-e Islam only asks you in when they are prepared. How dumb do you think the Afghanis are?"

Actually, everything was heavily controlled during the press conference. When some journalist wanted to look around outside of the controlled area the mood changed. The bearded hosts unlocked their Kalashnikovs and forced the journalist to go back. An area, secured with barbed wire, remained tabu. One could easily spot the internationally common danger notices for poison mounted on the fencing.
"They have chemical weapons there and they have passed them to other groups over the recent months."

It is amazing what can happen to you in the mountains of Kurdistan these days. You can meet 'God's Warriors', friends of Osama bin Laden who kindly ask for you business card before they offer one of their own to you. The card then reads 'Consultant'. (...)
"What's with Sargat? Do you have, does Ansar-e Islam have worked there at laboratories with chemical and biological substances?"

Mullah Ali Bapir takes his time to respond. "There is no facility for chemical weapons in Sargat as claimed by Colin Powell. You have been there. Did you film anything which happens to look like a facility?"

"Not necessarily facilities. Do you have laboratories there, are there chemical weapons? Let's say in the area surrounded by barbed wire with danger notices. Danger notices with skulls on them?

Mullah Ali Bapir stands up. It is time for a prayer. "Go and look for yourself", he says.
"What happens if we do so"?

Mullah Ali Bapir doesn't respond anymore. He is praying now. "Then you are dead", 'consultant' Mustafa says (...)

It is frightening ...
