Just thought I'd like to warn anyone who's received an attachment known as "Snoopy.pif". This morning, I received that in my email from a source called "hr-hyatt", whatever the hell that is. Fortunately, I have not opened it since it looked suspicious, and a quick search on the 'Net reveals that it's apparently a worm virus.

If you receive something like this - DO NOT even attempt to open it - just stick it in the Recycle bin and get rid of it!

Could everyone please quit posting virus warning messages. It is not only against the rules here. New viruses appear on a daily basis and I do not wish to see virus warning here every day.

Go, buy anti-virus software and keep it updated. Don't open suspicious attachments and do not use MS Outlook.

and do not use MS Outlook.

Why? Sorry for asking but I never had a virus on my computer and of course I will prevent it but I am using Outlook Express.

Many viruses are written to take advantage of holes in Microsoft Outlook.

Thanks for the information, Goingboeing! I didn`t know that Outlook is unsafe. Can anyone recommend an other good eMail program?

I usually avoid stupid email subjects such as "coo screensaver" or "Japanese Boy vs Girl" or "This a WinXP Patch, I hope you like it"...those are obvious culprits.

Its all very well saying that you never open e-mails and attachments from someone you don't know, but you probably get more from people you DO know. Love Bug, that went around last year, was spread via people's address books so you never really know.

Your virus protection is your best friend but only if you keep it updated!
