Here's a better idea...
After the fighting ends, how about we secretly send an ambassador to Iceland and tell them we won't do anything should they decide to invade France. Then we stand aside and see if the French can stop them. If Iceland is successful, problem solved. If the French, however, can successfully defend their homeland, maybe it will give them the confidence to open up a little bit the next time combat is necessary.
