It's so annoying to see people arguing every single word another person wrote and frankly I doubt anybody reads those line by line arguments anyway.

So, can we just save time, and space and agree not to argue every single line

I don't find it annoying, it's organized and structured.

"and frankly I doubt anybody reads those line by line arguments anyway."

I do, and many others do.

"So, can we just save time, and space and agree not to argue every single line"

No.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.  Big grin

Do you really think we care? The vast majority of people here disagree with you.

So, can we just save time, and space and agree not to argue every single line

Much easier for one to take things out of context this way to prove their argument.

The problem is (also one of my problems) that lot's of participants have English not as native language.

So, often we write things, that have several interpretations, while we are not aware of it.

This declares a part of the arguing I think...

ROFLMAO!!!!!! Good one!

As to the original post, the selection of lines of text to debate a topic is normal and, no, it does not make it easier to take things out of context as, when this is done, the person who took it out of context usually gets flamed by everyone else on the board.

What it does is makes it easier to follow what people are specifically debating, as these threads seem to stray wildly from the original topic.

but if you don't answer that way then you find some idiot comes along and interprets your response in some way that doesn't closely resemble what you say (as being different from those who dont' care and just make it up anyway).

It all comes down to a very simple fact .. you don't need to read the posts if you dont' want to so what's the fuss?
