A VERY Funny thing happened at work tonight and a bad thing as well. I thought you would all enjoy hearing about the Funny thing.
I work on a VERY part time basis for a Major Hotel Chain. They need Banquet Bartenders on the weekends, I know how to bar tend so they have me tending Bar 9/10 when they ask me to work. Anyway they had a group of 400 High Schoolers in the 'Future Politicians of America' Club or something like that. Anyway they obviously did not need a bartender so they asked me to be a server for their dinner reception. I had no problem with is as they said I would be out at 8:00 PM. Anyway I knew nothing was going on tonight so I said that if they needed me I could stay later. Well as you can imagine a bunch of 400 Teenagers in a very upscale hotel with regular guests can shall we say create some noise issues. So the Human Resources Manager who was the Manager on Duty came up to me at 7:45 PM and asked if I can stay and help with Security with the Noise Issues. He said I would be done by 12:30 AM. I said no problem. The pay is Excellent (I make 11.25 an Hour as well as the HR Director said he would pay me time and a half if I stayed) so I had no problem. He issued me a walkie talkie and asked me to take care of floors 2-5.
Anyway I was using the stairs to make the rounds making sure everything was in order. To get to the stairwell is weird. They have the guest corridor which past the last room on each floor curves to the right straigt for a few feet and then turns left to get to the stairwell making for a nice little private area. Anyway I am coming down the stairs swung open the door for the 3rd floor and there in front of my eyes I see a teenage couple. This teenage couple was not talking about world events but getting to know each other's anatamy a little better. There he was standing with his pants down and the girl was completely nude. They had no time to react as I swung the door open and there were the three of us standing looking at each other. They turned completely red in embarrasement as I continued walking telling them.."Ahh, can you get a room?" I saw them later on, and they did not know how to react.
Now for the bad thing. For the most part it was a very quiet night with the kids well behaved. I shooed a few of them in their rooms when they were loud but I had no problems and the chaperones had to seem have everything in place. Anyway around 12:10 AM I got a call from the front desk, "Mark go to 545 we are calling 911. The room called one of the students needs to go to the hospital." I was on the 4th floor and jetted up to the fifth. When I got to the room I knocked on the door and went in. What I found was a girl passed out on the ground covered in a pool of vomit who was paler than a ghost. I asked what happened to the other 7 girls in the room and they said she hit her head, passed out, and threw up. I checked the girl out, she had a pulse, was moving around, but was not talking with her eyes closed. When I bent down to check her vitals I could very easily smell alchohol on her and on the other 7 girls in the room. It was a connecting bedroom. The other Security Personnel came up and I asked if I could search the room. The girls said 'why and no you can't without a warrant'. I told them, "that 911 has been called, when you call an ambulance (911) a police car as well comes. Do you want me to ask you again to search the room or do you want the police officer to ask you if he can search your room?" At this point ALL of them were about to shit their pants. They mumbled go ahead and it took me about 10 seconds to find the Bottle of Absolut they had. This bottle was about 8/10 ths empty. Not only did they have a bottle of Absolut but as I was rumming through I noticed some water bottles. Guess what was in those water bottles? Some Rum. I took this and gave it to the Manager on Duty who thanked me once again. It turns out that the girl was 15 the teacher could not chaperone the trip and a girls mother was the chaperone. I was let go after this so I am not sure the outcome, but I was interviewed by the police what I did in this incident.
The 'Future Politicians of America' sure are getting good training with the sex and booze at their meetings. I guess they want to be like the real ones

Good question Tbar222, we were told at our orientation about issues like these. The number one rule is always ask to enter a hotel room. Even if you are delivering room service. I did that. From my understanding the hotel reserves the right to search ANY hotel room as they see fit. I don't even think it is necessary to ask which I did. This girl was hurt in our hotel room. If an injury occurs at the hotel the hotel needs to do an investigation on why that injury occurred. I asked to search the bags and got a 'No' Answer. I said what I said and even if they said no I probably would have searched their bags without their approval as I saw it fit to conduct an investigation about a severe injury at our property.
