Most people watch movies and only take them at face value. But are there “hidden” meanings or “messages” that Hollywood is planting in them? After watching several movies, I can’t help but wonder if this is their way of antagonizing those that do not share Hollywood “values”.
Just a few examples from movies past:
“My Fellow Americans” starring Jack Lemmon and James Garner
This is the one I really want to focus on. James Garners character plays the Democrat. Lemmon plays the Republican.
Apparently, this is the movie where Hollywood took a shot at the GOP. Watch it sometime and you’ll see what I mean.
Garner is portrayed as a smooth talking gentleman who beds a hot blonde half his age. Several times throughout the movie, several attractive ladies give him the “wink”. The press personally gives him inside information regarding a scandal about to break, and gives him helpful tips on how to bust the Republican. He receives very few insults in the movie. Also, several times throughout the movie, he gives his GOP opponent a nickname that alludes to Garner’s own private parts. Meanwhile, the Dem hurls insult after insult at the GOP, and it is portrayed as being funny.
Lemmon, by contrast is portrayed as a cheap, money collecting buffoon who shamelessly cashes in on his presidency by speaking at Japanese Insurance seminars, and wearing jackets with corporate logos on them at golf tournaments. He is even shown watering down booze in his hotel room. His wife tells him that “Is so George Bush”. He even admits to stealing the little towels and soap bars. He is portrayed as being forgetful at who his assistants are. His personal assistant is a dopey, accountant type with all the charm of paint fumes. His vice president throws a golf club at an African American and says that he did him a favor because “your people are good at so many other sports, that we need to equal the playing field a bit”. He also is portrayed as a comical idiot. The same journalist that helps Garner tells Lemmon’s character that she isn’t going to help him at all. Near the end of the movie, a Republican president resigns, AND the next one ends up in Federal Prison! (the same one that threw the golf club) Miraculously, no Dems anywhere in the movie are implicated of any wrongdoing.
“Mrs. Doubtfire” starring Robin Williams. Who can forget this heart warming tale about a father dressing up in drag-designed by his gay brother-in San Francisco-as the only way to see his children? This was supposed to be a “family” movie. So is the message here that it is really OK to dress in drag, present yourself as something you are not, and lie-all in the name of “love”?
“Falling Down” starring Michael Douglas as the middle aged, white collar white man that goes on a rampage throughout the city-ranging from ransacking a Koreans shop to stabbing a Neo-nazi, to clubbing a Hispanic gang banger. It seems that everyone in this movie is a “victim”: gays…the homeless…minorities of every faction…low income earners…and stodgy old men on a golf course. Although he plows his way through the city, doing a lot of damage, in the end, he is shot dead by a police officer (Robert Duvall) who labeled him as the criminal, not the other way around. I think the meaning of this movie can be debated almost indefinitely. Is this the ultimate in “Politically Correct” movies that serves to remind us at the evil committed by white males against everyone else? Watch this movie and pay close attention to how many times you see the American flag in it.

It's a vast left-wing conspiracy by Hollywood Jewish moguls to turn god-fearin' Christian folks into godless commie lovin' liberals!!!!! We need HUAC (House Un-American Activities Commitee) back in Congress!!!!
Also, no more flouridation of drinking water...another commie plot...we must preserve our purity of essence!
Sadly, probably quite a few here truly believe in these...

Why don't you also mention the movie Canadian bacon, whereby the President, suffering from piss poor approval ratings, decides that a war is the only way to go, and therefore declares war on Canada......
Very true to life, except you could exchange Canada for another country which was in the news only a year or two before this movie was released.
And makes us wonder about what Matt? The only thing your whole post makes me think about is what you would do if you saw a black man coming towards you on the street, or an Asian man serve you in a supermarket, or a gay man gives you your yearly check-up.
