I must be a product of the TV age, where the average attention span is that of a 30 second commercial on a good day. Here is where it relates to a.net;
when I see a post or reply that is more than, say, 10 lines long, I go all glassy-eyed, and can't be bothered to read them half the time. Am I the only one who skips the rants and ramblings?

what did you say?
The average person's attention span is now down to under 5 minutes yes.
I've never timed my own, I think it's quite a bit longer but still it's less than I'd like it to be (don't have enough patience to photograph wildlife, waiting hours for it to appear for example).

Any post more than a paragraph or two and I just can't be bothered; I think I'm a little overwhelmed by all the various communicative mediums these days. If it's not e mail that's demanding my attention, it's the fax, instant messages, the phone, my pager for work ...
Send me away somewhere for the week without any technological devices, and I may find I'm actually able to focus and concentrate on one thing for more than about ten minutes ...

I was diagnosed with A.D.D., so my attention span is approximately 5 seconds. I have so much trouble studying with distractions and things of that nature, so to study I have to haul my ass up to the library.
