Milano...wonderful city, just to sit in one of the openair-cafes at the Piazza Mercanti, so lovely!
Italian people, may be somewhat tainted by prejudice but you guys are so emotional, Ferrari wins and the church bells are ringing (at least in Maranello), Ferrari beaten, and it looks as if Italy's unemployment rate has just increased to 95%. I like it though!

I actually like Italian culture over French culture.
Look at what the the ancestors of the Italian people gave us:
1. The Roman Empire. One of the greatest empires this world has even known, with major leaps forward in literature, architecture, public works, and goods trade.
2. The Roman Catholic Church. If it weren't for the Church, Europe would have completely fallen into barbarism and worse after the West Roman Empire fell.
3. The Rennaissance. The rediscovery of ancient Greek and Roman literature and scientific writings set the foundation for the modern world we know today--and it started around the city-states of Genoa and Venice.
In modern times, my favorite things Italian are:
1. Great food. Italian cooking is woefully overshadowed by French cooking; Italians made great food such as various types of pastas, excellent meat dishes, Italian coffee beverages such as espresso and cappucino, and superb Italian wines.
2. Ferrari sports cars. When anyone who knows about automobiles mention what company makes the most-desired line of sports cars regardless of price, Ferrari is usually No. 1 on many lists. How can you ignore the Ferrari F360 Modena, one of the world's truly great-handling sports cars?
3. Great music. Italians have a long and revered history of classical music dating from the the 1500's. And it is Italian opera--played at places like La Scala in Milan--that has truly made the mark on classical music as we know it today. Indeed, you need to have some knowledge of Italian to read a music score, because musical terms like adagio, allegro, pianissimo, fortissimo, etc. are all Italian words.

I'd say
My grandmother's mother which comes from Piemonte
Bologna, Venezia and Firenze,
Bologna Borgo Panigale airport
and of course Ilaria, my Italian penfriend, and her parents.
They're one of the nicest people I've ever met.
