I was speaking to a friend yesterday who told me that Rastafarians descend from one of the 12 tribes of Israel, and are therefore classified as Jewish enough to seek residence in Israel.
I was quite surprised - I did not know about this - can any Jews and/or Rastafarians comment on this?
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

Rastafaris come from Ethiopia, note that in the word Rastafari you have Ras (Province governor in Ethiopia)) and Tafari (name of the governor) named later Halie Selassie, Emperor of Ethiopia until 1975 (I think). This guy claimed to be descendent of the dinasty of Salomon coming from Israel, and Rastafaris had Halie Selassie as their god. Also there are still in Ethiopia a few Jew tribes.
I explained this as exact as I remember, but I don't remember very well, so I may be wrong, or missed something, but more or less, is like this...

As far as I know Rastafaris are a religious sect from Jamaica. Although they regard Haile Selassie as their redeemer, they really have nothing to do with Ethiopia. They were born in Jamaica, lived there, have never even visited Ethiopia in their lives, so therefore are as Jewish as I am French.
