Recently friend of mine came over with a legal version of XP to replace my previous version, along with that he did alot of other work on this thing. When I went onto http://www1.passur.com/jfk as I usually do, and got the page with the blue background with an "X" at the upper left hand corner. My friend to me to re-download Java. Is that the problem, what can I do?

I had the exact same thing. I use xphome also. This is normal for MS Win XP as microsoft dropped java virtual machine from the latest versions of internet explorer due to their feud with Sun Microsystems (the java people).
You need to download a java plug in. It's thrid-party (not from MS) but all legal, and wont cost you anything.
See my post on this thread in a Tech Forum, they gave me some good links where I can download this from:
Sun refused Microsoft a license to distribute a newer Java runtime than the 8 year old one they had had since Windows 95.
In return Microsoft said they'd rather not distribute it at all than distribute something that's hopelessly out of date so they dropped it.
