Burt Bacharach is one of my favorite songwritters/composers of the 20th Century.
His music is amazing and has wriiten dozens of hits for various artist.
My favorite LPs are 'Reach Out (1967) and 'Close To You' (1969).

LP? What's that??? Anything like a CD?? Last I checked, LP was an obscure means of recording stuff with VHS Tapes, like EP and SP, but in the middle.. My old VCR had an LP setting..

Hmmmmmmmm......
He is pretty much synonymous with Dionne Warwick...you owes her entire career to him (pre psychic days at least...).

I'll go with 'Alfie' as my favorite BB song.

I think most his lyrics were written by Had David..but I also like the Carol Bayer Sager stuff as well.....very retro.

Burt Bacharach is a music icon. I respect him, and enjoy his music, but I'm not a huge fan. He does have some pretty good stuff though.

Well I ended up becoming a fan after an Ex of mine played Burt back at me for years and years..

Some of those old film clips are totally funky and amaazing in kind of creepy but cool way.

Hoo Roo!

Burt RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .....and don't we all know the way to San Jose by now...I love that song, and all the others, too!!! The man's a genius and btw, the village he originally comes from, Bacharach located in the Rhine valley is exactly like his music..lovely, sunny, a little sentimental...

I just drive down I-280 and I am in San Jose in just 30 minutes.
San Jose ain't what it used to be.
It's just a boring suburban sprawling city with chain stores and track homes as far as the eye can see.  Sad

Fortunately that didn't keep Burt from writing a great song about it...and maybe the way there is nicer that the city itself. (I've never been there!)

btw:there's a great 4-cd-Boxset "the look of love"....all you need is this box, a good stereo like my Rotel-BW combi and a day like this one here in sunny Germany...over 30 degrees celsius, that's going over 90 fahrenheit today, and a good aircon Big grin Big grin Big grin

His soundtrack from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was really good. That one contains one of my favorites - South American Getaway.

Off to see the new Broadway play called "The Look of Love" in 2 weeks. I'll report back. Its a Burt Bacharach love-fest !!

Anyone hear Claudine Longet's version of that song? I have her LP (pre-indictment for manslaughter) which I stole from my parents home. She sings it in this husky voice as if she's having a friggin' orgasm. Its pretty awesome and a great throwback to the time that flight attendants were airhostesses.

Those of you who were not around in the late sixties or the seventies have no idea of how glam it was to be served by a coiffed airhostess in a powder blue suit while listening to Burt Bacharach on the very new and revolutionary inflight audio earphones !!! It makes all the 200 channel AVOD on SIA seem so clinical.

Yes I got the CD...very interesting, and it clearly shows that Burt is a man who is always looking for cooperation with musicians from other music sectors and musicians much younger than himself. That is what makes the man really great!!

I hear you there man!  Big thumbs up
That was the peak of human civilaztion!
Everything was great back them; music, cars, airlines/airplanes, you name it!

My favorite version of 'The Look Of Love' is by Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66.
It's sung by Lani Hall.

I opted not to respond to this thread but, a few nights ago I saw the Austin Powers movie where Burt made a cameo appearance. CLAAAAASSIC! Those WERE the good ole days.
Burt's song writing and Dion's vocals - Magic!

I thought Burt was in the first two Austin Movies. I don't think he was in Goldmember.

Didn't he do the "Christmas in Heaven" number from "Monty Python's Meaning of Life"?
