I have comcast too... it seems to die about once a week for an hour or so, and about every six months it'll completely die, requiring Comcast to send a crew to my house to repair it (its always problems with the line on the street- not actually in / at my house). Other than those aggrevations, its still far better than dial up. For speed I give them a 7, for reliability a 5, for customer service a 9 (it never takes them more than one full day to get a crew to my house when it is completely down).

I don't know in the US, but in France AOL is the worst provider you can get.
It has however many customers, thanks to a very powerful marketing. I suggest you try to find comparisons on the web, something like a continuous online bandwidth comparison. We have that in France, you MUST have it too.

I had Comcast and loved it. Very fast and reliable. Rarely went down for us. But the price was too high. I dropped it for now. Will get it back soon.

Had that Comcast broadband for about 3 and a half years. It's a touch susceptible to peak demand (due to the architecture) and electrical storms, although maybe that's just my region. All in all, it's excellent. Where I live, service was recently upgraded their service to 256k up, it used to be 128k. Same price, no hike.

Both DSL & Cable High Speed Internet are not available here yet, but should be by fall. As soon as Comcast hooks it up, we are switching to them. I know many people with Comcast and they all love it.

I have had it for 5 years, in it's diffrent incarnations. I LOVE IT. It is fast, fast, fast and did I mention fast. It can be sometimes a little annoying when it shuts down for maiteance, but it is something you learn to live with. Enjoy!

I looked into getting it, but since they bought up AT&T Broadband, they've been having to finish all of the local upgrades AT&T Broadband stopped doing. My neighborhood is still waiting on all of the upgrades (We still can't get digital cable, even though the Comcast website says it is available in my neighborhood. And that also includes High-Speed Internet) so when I looked into getting a broadband connection, I had to turn elsewhere.

We have a Comcast Cable Modem...its ok...at some times of the day downloads are lightning fast...as in 250 KB/sec...during peak though we can only manage about 11 KB/sec...which is still an improvement over 2.5 KB/sec from dialup...we've been having some issues trying to wireless network the computers in our house to the cable modem though, not sure if thats related to the modem or our computers as of yet...

I have it at home, it's ok speed wise. But there customer service and tech support sucks. Also in my area there are a lot of outages. Sometimes for as long as 2 days that it takes to get a truck out to my house. Luckily I have Direct TV and Earthlink dial-up so I can never out during these outages.

POW is great after you train it. To date mine has kill 9579 pop ups. It should be free, at least it was when I last downloaded it.

USAir330,
I have BT Broadband, and I use AOL by connecting to it via TCP/IP - Open AOL, and click "Setup" - "Add modem" - "TCP/IP" and your done, you get to use AOL but with the speed of DSL  Big grin its great. Though you are still paying for both things.

I had AT&T cable modem, then switched to DSL while I was doing movie trading... then when I stopped, I went back to AT&T, and now it is comcast. I honestly NEVER had to call them about any problems. I just didn't have any! Still don't. The only thing that bugs me, is those annoying popups, but I'll find a way to get rid of them.

Alex.

Well make sure that POW is running. When a new pop up, well pops up, you right click the POW icon> Select Add or Remove Pop ups (something like that), and double click the name of the windows that is a pop up. Next time a window is opened with that name, it will close it automaticlly.

You can migrate to the AOL BYOA "Bring your own access" plan for $9.95 over your normal cable bill.
And then do what LHR340 explained....
I use CHarter Communications cable, even at peak demand I stay at 1.5Megabit downstream  Smile Big grin
