Here in the UK (not sure about our transatlantic brethren) we have a thing called Desert Island Discs. It basically asks a really stupid and hypothetical question that is kind of fun to think about and sort of provides a snapshot of who you are.
You are on a plane, and it crashes in a similarly unrealistic way to Tom Hanks’ outrageously jammy escape in Cast Away. You managed to swim away from the burning jet fuel, breached sludge tanks, and still spinning jet engines, and find a liferaft. Which is nice. You awake on a beach on a tropical desert island. After purging the Pacific Paradise of such unpleasantness as Cannibals, dinner plate sized, Westerner-Eating spiders, very large and bad tempered swamp dwelling snakes, you find a jukebox. It will only play five songs, and five songs only, but will play them as many times as you like.
So which five tracks do you choose and why?
Mine are:
Ayla – Ayla (Positiva Records – original mix is the finest trance tune of all time bar none)
Live Forever – Oasis (awesome, motivating, feelgood track that you can unashamedly play air guitar to and nobody can see)
All along the Watchtower – Jimi Hendrix (for when you are running through the Jungle with an M16 shaped stick, screaming “we got Charlie in the wire!!!” to nobody in particular…)
Town called Malice – The Jam (for when you need cheering up and nothing else will do)
Creeping Death – Metallica (to vent all that pent up rage on the nearest palm tree)
I wanna hear yours!
CM

Good song would only get me sad on a Desert Island, so I can't think of anything, to be honest.

A better jukebox lineup would probably be:
Tomcraft - Loneliness
The Police - Message in a Bottle
Janet Jackson - I get so lonely
The Levellers - 100 years of Solitude
Kevin Bloody Wilson - The wa****g song
Depressing....

"Ace of Spades" Motorhead
"Champagne Supernova" Oasis (This is the "Stairway" of the 1990s)
"Town Called Malice" The Jam (A tough choice really, as there are so many great songs to choose from)
"Waterloo Sunset" The Kinks
"Fairytale of New York" The Pogues (Like The Jam, a tough one to choose, they've got so many great songs)

LOL @ CanyonBlue!
Im laughing my a££ off! Can you just imagine spending a couple of years singing "get me the fcuk off this island" to the tune of "fight for your right to party" by the Beastie Boys. I can just picture it...
Me, dirty, bronzed, musclebound and far, far less of a fried chicken gut than before running round the island looking like the Missing Link - eating coconuts, small marsupials, and shouting....
"I gotta get!"
"the fcuk!!"
"off this islaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand!!!"
Thats when they decide not to rescue you for public sanity reasons! Anyway, if the island has a pineapple tree, local nympho tribeswomen, the aforementioned jukebox, and is underneath a jetway, then im happy!
Trying to teach Girl Tuesday the difference between a triple seven, an MD11, and a 747 from their contrails may prove time consuming though....
Right. Back to work.
