you must have been @ Ozzfest.

too bad you didn't like the deftones, they have more credibility than anyone else on that tour in my mind.

Metallica does rule...if this was 1989. Too bad its 2003 and St. Anger is the worst piece of trash they ever did. Just my opinion though.

Metallica does their own tour-Summer Sanitarium. I may go see them... $75 though.

$75? Holy shit...

My W.O.A 2003 ticket (which i just got refunded) cost me €50 and that includes 3 days, 3 nights camping and over 50 metal bands.

Shame IE cancelled or I would've gone  Smile.

I just wish Metallica had never written the song 'One' or released the music video for it, the beginning of the end...

You should have seen them at Roskilde - they pretty much set the standard for the rest of the festival. You can download a recording of the concert, which was transmissed live on radio,I have the URL, but I'm not sure if it's ok to post it (Mods?).

http://www.rockphoto.dk/artists/metallica/index.html - Good pictures, just look at the amount of people! In the daytime overview shot (the one w/o any lights coming from the stage), it's worth noting that it was taken at least 2½ hours prior to the concert starting! Another band (the Stage opener who, in the true tradition of Roskilde Festival, is a small & relatively new band) had finished at around 19.30 and shortly after that, people were let into the front area (the 2x2 boxes right at the front).

The set, which lasted for around 2 hours, was something like this:

Battery
Master Of Puppets
Harvester Of Sorrow
Sanaterium
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Frantic
Sad But True
St. Anger
No Remorse
Seek & Destroy
----------------
Blackend
Time To Die
Nothing Else Matters
----------------
One
Enter Sandman

It's worth noting that the seemed to have "forgotten" about the Load & Reload albums and jsut went all old-school (aside from the 2 from St. Anger - but you should have heard the crowds appreciation of them!)

I just came back from one as well (work-related...didn't have to pay!). Metallica (or any of the acts) are not my type of music group, so I didn't appreciate it as much as die-hard fans would have.

I must admit, ticket prices they're charging are insane... $91 (around $70 USD) for obstructed UPPER-DECK (!) seats.

How was the Detroit show, attendance wise? Toronto one was a little bit emptier then I thought, only having less than 40,000 people.

All the floor was full, the lower level where I was was full, and the club/2nd level was full. I would say around 40,000 people were there. My dad said the radio expected about 32,000 there, but I thought there were a lot more, since only the top level was empty in a staduim that holds like 88,000 people. It was pretty packed. $75 for ticket it cost me. it ended up being like 98 after ticket master gotthere hands on it. Then it was $15 for parking. Then 30 for the tee shirt, and 30 for the hat. i thought it was all worth it though. i have wanted to see them since I was like ten, and my mother always promised me she would take me, so she did.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
