Here is your rescue:

The Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG.

Featuring a 6 liter V12 engine producing 612 HP and 1000 (in words: one thousand) NM of torque that makes it probably the strongest factory sedan the world has ever seen. This engine brings the car (mind you, this is a luxury weighting more than 2 tons) to 100 in just 4,4 seconds. By default, the car is limited to 250 km/h, but if you ask kindly, the guys in Affalterbach will be happy to remove the limiter. The Dashboard should give you an idea in which speed regions the car is heading then:

Also soon available for other drivers feeling underpowered: SL65 AMG and CL65 AMG.

The question is whether this is the best time to introduce these cars considering the "Death Racer"-affair (luv ya Bild)

For people who don't have more than 200.000 € ready to spend on a car, the more I see it, the more I like the new Golf V:

Please don't tell me that it really says 360 km/h...  Wow!

Just a purely insane car, but if some people are happy with it... let them pay the gas.

Walk together, talk together all ye peoples of the earth. Then, and only then, shall ye have peace.

Actually, the coupe/convertible SL65 was suppose to be available first (?)--is this still the case?

In the US, the speed limiter cannot be removed by law. While I doubt any insurance company will check--it's necessary on some super high performance cars to buy and additional indemnity policy to close the gap if a catastrophic accident occurs. This is particularly true of buyers over 55 because of slower reflexes...

Nice car..but digi dashboard is extremelty CHEAP!

Aloges, I guess if you have to buy such a car, you don't give a shit about gas prices.

The unlimited SL55 topped out at about 320 and was faster 0-300 than a Lamborghini Murcielago, so you can imagine what the SL65 will be like.

Actually some cars aren't even equipped with a tachometer going as far as the car can go unlimited, see here:

Greg, the SL65 will come in early 2004 (in Europe, that is - probably later to the US) while the CL and S come in late 2003.

I always liked TVR's response when they were asked what the top speed of the Tuscan R was. They said, "Erm, about 200 mph-ish" because that was as fast as anyone had dared to go so they didn't actually know what it would do flat out.

Don't you just love independents?! Big grin

I'll need to thank Racko now:
If anybody thinks my M5 is slow take a look at the above picture....
(although I thought the rev limiter kept it going past 7K--???)

Regarding the limiter, good luck removing that in the US  Insane

Holy crap! I didn't know about an S65 or CL65. 612 HP! That's insane! I have a CLK55, and it is incredible. I cannot imagine a beefier version of it!

But that was when I ruled the world

i just read that they wont remove the limiter. all you can buy is a refined version allowing for 300 km/h. AMS (the german caranddriver equivalent) says they wont because of the tires.

anyways - id LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOve to feel the acceleration once...

Yes these -65 AMG powerplants that will find their way on the CL, S and SL are crazy.I was reading in one magazine where they were talking about the incredible power of the CL65...they said the engine is capable of producing more torque but they have restricted it so that the transmission can cope with it...the CL65 has a 0-60 of 3.9 seconds!...it would be one of the 5 cars in my ideal garage!!

The Porsche 911 Turbo can drive 368 Km/h after having changed some settings in the engine.

Available for the normal use, it is no test car. But to own such a car you have to be rich!
