OK......I cannot help but think, on this second anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, of how great it would be if Osama bin Laden was caught/killed. After reading Newsweek at work, and seeing pictures of "the Magnificent 19" stickers being passed around London(the 19 9/11 hijackers) it seems as if the world has stopped trying. For instance......if we know bin Laden supporters are holding meetings and such why don't we intervene???? To me, it seems as though it has gotten to the point where it is almost "cool" for everyone to be pissed off, but when it comes to taking action against these people, no one does. The newsweek article said London cops would scrape off the stickers but not stop the supporters from passing them out(they were advertising a large Muslim conference or meet......and not about the Koran). I really wonder if OBL will ever be caught.........it is sad when a mountain range and a cave can hide someone from all the cutting-edge technology the US has. Not to mention the fact he is the mastermind behind THOUSANDS of killings the world over. What has to happen to make this a PRIORITY??????????

I doubt the US wants to catch him. He is lethal if caught alive....he will become an instant living martyr.

Im sure the US and others will attempt an assassination first.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

I believe Robin Williams said it best when he said (paraphrasing here) Why can't we catch this guy? How hard is it to find a 6'5" blue-eyed Muslim attached to a kidney dialysis machine? (If that is truly the case...)

Caught-no. Killed-by either allied forces, or his own supporters (since like so many meglomaniacs, he is, deep inside, a little coward) will kill him if they think he's on the verge of being captured.

I'm reasonably sure that he's dead already, probably as a result of the Tora Bora bombing in late 2001. His death may never be proven, however.

OBL is just a face for Al Qaeda.

We need a boogyman to make sense of Al Qaeda, and those who oppose the US need some kind of Dr.No like villain to look up to.

The truth is that if all we were told was that this shadowy organization named Al Qaeda was plotting to blow us all up, we'd be confused. But with OBL around with his endless home videos set in his cozy cave we have a permanent face to all this murder and mayhem. Not that OBL doesn't exist. I just think that he is/was just one face of Al Qaeda. He may not even be the head honcho of this operation. So even if we did get him and force upon him a slow torturous death (of wathching "Glitter" a 100 times until he begs for mercy) there are thousands of other OBLs.

Its like those Friday 13th Movies.

A lot of the problems you have is with the rumors about this guy, like the injuries at Tora-Bora (I personally think we winged him) and the whole kidney troubles thing.

I wonder if we allready know where he is but are sitting on it until there is a more opportune time to catch him. Lets say a couple of weeks out of the November election?

I believe he will be caught it's just a matter of time. He can't keep hiding forever. I just hope they catch him alive so he can bear full responsibility. They probably won't catch him for a long time yet.

"they" are saying he's in the tribal areas of Pakistan, where even the Pakistani military won't set foot. I'll tell you one thing, if Osama is ever captured alive then you'll all be invited to my kegger.

They'll never take him alive (either because he'll kill himself OR we'll put a bullet through his head). He doesn't do us any good in a jail. There would be wave after wave of terrorism seeking his release.

This recent video of him aired throughout the world seems to raise questions by some of his fate. In the past videos he would almost always be speaking and up until lately he would address himself in a matter that demonstrate himself still alive, by mentioning some event in time - in effect still evading the U.S. But on this last one he doesn't say anything which as mentioned is not true to his form. I also noticed he seemed to be less gray, and not quiet as pale in the face. I really wonder if this is bogus Al Quieda propaganda- may be just trying to continue this guy who truly is pasted over some rocks in the middle of Afghanistan.

Which is why I've advocated all along for us to go over there with some B-52's and simply LEVEL the place.

Touchy feely pacifism and negotiations have little or no effect on terrorism, which is why the only way we will truly ever eliminate it is to literally wipe the terrorist safe havens off the face of the earth, one after the next until they are either dead or beaten into [peaceful] submission.

Hijackings. Suicide bombings. Kidnappings. Blown up buildings. Vans filled with plastiqué have no useful place in a civilized world. If doing those very things agains the very people who might employ those tactics against innocent people is what it takes to make it safer for everyone, then so be it.

if Osama is ever captured alive, then I'll take you up on that offer, but I won't drink the beer. I'll just socialize, mainly because I think beer is nasty.

I wish he would just trip on those damn rocks in these videos and break every bone in his body or.. better yet, MattD's suggestion of B-52's.
