Help With Windows Updates

I have windows XP on my laptop and for the past 11 days, the automatic update icon appears on the bottom right side shortly after startup.

However, the update that wants to be installed has been installed already 4 times.

Every morning it is the EXACT SAME download.

I have gone to the windows update page and it has been successfully installed 4 times.

How can I get it so I will stop seeing the notification to download this update.

The update is number 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows

Have you shutdown and restarted your computer? Just about every Windows update requires a restart so that it will take effect on your computer.

Disable automatic updating and do it manually once a month or so.
